This is, and will be, my only Steve Irwin post
I have been tagged by a ray and I have never been in so much pain (and I have known some serious pain).

Earlier today I heard that Irwin pulled that 8 inch barb out of his chest before he died.

That, brothers and sisters, is beyond tough.

6. Odd, I talked to a guy today who also
had been tagged by a stingray and he said the very same thing. Serious pain, right around his ankle. As many years as I have been diving I have never gotten close enough to one to be tagged.

He was a tough one.

15. I wasn't diving
Drunk as a skunk and out gigging for flounder in calf-deep water in the Gulf of Mexico.

Turned to talk to a friend and stepped squarely on the ray's back.

I became sober in about 1.3 seconds.

11. would that we all could say that
Edited on Tue Sep-05-06 09:48 PM by sweetheart
yet on respirators lost away in resthomes for the over-100 years olds who
can't remember their names, when we finally pass, we'll wish it was by stingray
in the spice of our lives, and not the long drawn out walk to the bottom of
fragility.

PZZ.. welcome to DU!!

17. You can argue with his methods
Edited on Tue Sep-05-06 10:02 PM by Canuckistanian
But you can't fault him for his goals - education about the natural world.

Here's to Steve Irwin :toast:

May his legacy never be forgotten or ignored.

On edit:

A belated Welcome to DU!
