House Punishes Hurricane Victims
A non-binding resolution to acknowledge victims of 2005's Gulf Coast hurricanes and reaffirm Congress' commitment to rebuilding the Gulf Coast region failed to make it to the House floor.

The resolution was written by embattled Rep. William Jefferson (D-LA), but received bipartisan support from the Louisiana and Mississippi delegations.

Why didn't it pass? The unofficial word was that House Republicans didn't want to allow Jefferson -- the target of a federal bribery probe -- to score any free public relations points.

1. How pathetic.
I hope Republicans who were devasted by Katrina chew on this and consider the consequences of voting for the Syndicate. Republican politics is killing this country.

2. The Katrina/Rita debacle should be shouted loud and clear by the DNC
in nationwide ads post labor day...

A comparison of the money spent in Iraq versus the recovery realized in New Orleans should do nicely.

4. Politicians on every level...
...have used this tragedy as a tool and political football since it began. Why should that change now?

8. Fuck these assholes.
Just fuck 'em. They don't give a flying rat's ass about anyone or anything but themselves and their goddamned money. Reading this just after watching Spike Lee's documentary just pours gasoline on the fire of anger burning inside me. What the hell is WRONG with these people????
