Face it...The Dems lost their base over the years. They banked on union labor being a potent force for the foreseeable future, and slept while it eroded away. While this happened, the Republicans changed their strategy and put people into every low-level office they could find to pump up the numbers from the bottom.
The Dems need to do two things: 1) Get the idea that this Centrist "Republican Lite" concept will work for them. Just as in business, playing follow the leader seldom works unless you have something so vastly better than anyone else to offer. Face it. The Dems don't. 2) Differentiate by returning to their roots in different form.
This means SUPPORT THE PEOPLE WHO CARRY THE LOAD in this country.
Labor was the little guy. They did the work. They paid their fair share. Small business is the labor force of the business world, and nobody truly represents small business. Small business pays their taxes, either through their business, or on their personal taxes using an LLC or and S-Corp. Big business does not. Big business gets tax deals for land, for construction, for employment, and small businesses don't.
The Dem's won't get anywhere saying "We're big business too". They won't by saying Dems are like Repubs only better. They won't by saying they are against anything. They will by supporting the little guy and gal who carries the load
The only way the Dems will ever get ahead is when they can promise something will get better, and follow through on that promise.
