"Six degrees of separation is the theory that anyone on earth can be connected to any other person on the planet through a chain of acquaintances that has no more than five intermediaries."

Based on the claims of the Bush/Cheney cabal in speciously rationalizing unwarranted wiretapping, those with whom 'known terrorists' communicate and, in turn, those with whom they communicate (and so on) require surveillance because they're suspected terrorists sheerly as a result of that interaction. While we may be separated from any ONE other person in the world by six degrees, we're clearly separated by fewer degrees (five?) from SOME other person who's a 'known terrorist.' That makes nearly every person in the world a suspected terrorist.

We may be living in a world of five degrees of terrorist separation ... plus one. That last one is the degree to which the Bush/Cheney paranoia promulgators are separated from reality.

4. The NSA almost undoubtedly has the compute power to ...
... map a 'degrees of separation' network (in the generic sense) topology for nearly all 6 billion people on the planet or, at the very least, all of the nearly 300 million in the US with every identified individual overseas. Those kids are clearly mappable.

3. You get the feeling
They are tapping each other. They seem more concerned with who's going to get stabbed in the back in these scandals than they ever did in catching a terrorist.
