i think you'll find its the holy trinity of usual suspects: cars, drugs, fatty foods. just like every other channel.

2. I think starting a campaign of finding out who the advertisers are

of hardball and its ilk, writing them and boycotting their products would be a helpful solution.
the religious nuts do it and they have been pretty successful.

FYI The actual buying of airtime is not done by the advertisers themselves. I do not know what your needs are in particular but if you are trying to complain about specific programming support, I would note down the advertisers during and immediately after the show, and then contact the corporation.
