10,000 bags misplaced at airports
Around 10,000 bags checked in by British Airways passengers have gone missing at airports since the UK security alert began, the airline says.
It said half of them were still piled up at airports waiting to be delivered back to their owners.

A war of words has erupted between BA and airport operator BAA over who is to blame for the misplaced luggage.

1. See now, the next directive will be that checked bags aren't allowed .
Got to keep those pesky passengers in line.

2. What a mess. It says in the article that there will be no future bans on
carrying luggage on to the plane. I read another article in a UK paper today that said the ban would be permanent.

Sounds just like Homeland Insecurity!

6. Really. Strangling on their own incompetence.
Does any nation have contingency plans today?

Sure doesn't seem like it. The 'smart guys' - USA, England, Israel - just screw up everything they touch.

The Chinese are playing with a Super Bowl playbook. Let the other guys' mistakes do them in.

4. This is a huge problem for the airlines
My sister-in-law has her own business and travels around the country doing workshops. She never checks her bag with her materials because if it were lost, that would be a huge blow to her livelihood. She flew out here the day before the "alert." She is seriously worried about having to check what she was able to bring on last week.

The worst thing that ever happened to me was years ago when the airlines lost my kid's stroller. I missed a flight and had to do endless paperwork - all for a stupid stroller. Since that time, I never check anything.

10,000 bags is beyond the pale.

7. How's the economy in the UK?
Lots of weary air travelers having to buy all new stuff will probably give it a temp shot in the arm.
