They're all patting themselves on their backs, saying "See how Bush has kept us safe? No terrorist attacks since 9-11! This is proof that the Patriot Act works!"
Remember after 9-11, how the administration kept warning about car bombs, apartment bombs, truck bombs, etc? How we kept hearing about all these plots and "chatter", and every now and then they would claim to have stopped a terrorist attack (ie the Brooklyn Bridge plot).
Anyone with even a rudimentary knowledge of how al-Qaeda works can tell you this is nothing but a smokescreen. Al Qaeda does not go for these "run-of-the-mill" terrorist attacks like you see with other, smaller terrorist groups. Al-Qaeda typically plans their attacks years in advance. Their attacks are usually large-scale and against high-visibility and symbolic targets, and are normally 3-4 years apart. Witness the first WTC bombing, the barracks in Saudi Arabia and the USS Cole, and then 9-11. Sending suicide bombers into a shopping mall isn't their forte. Of course, Bushie and company would like you to think this, so that they can tell you what a good job they've done protecting you. When the reality is, they haven't done a damned thing to protect us.
I have no doubt there will be another major attack in the US. First of all, it fits their timeframe - we're about due for another attack. We have done nothing to discourage Bin Laden, in fact we have only helped his cause and make it easier for him to recruit. I wonder how many of those whose loved ones were killed in that Pakistani airstrike are going to be part of some future attack on the US?
