See, the irony is that what they need to do is get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this shit and it's over.
bush, St. Petersburg, Russia, Jul. 17, 2006

So in other words it is Syria, Hezbollah, and Hezbollah's sponsor Iran's fault for
the war in Lebanon, but bush knew about and was behind Israel's military actions.

<Amid the political and diplomatic fallout from Israel’s faltering invasion of Lebanon, some Israeli officials are privately blaming President George W. Bush for egging Prime Minister Ehud Olmert into the ill-conceived military adventure against the Hezbollah militia in south Lebanon.

Bush conveyed his strong personal support for the military offensive during a White House meeting with Olmert on May 23, according to sources familiar with the thinking of senior Israeli leaders.>

War on terror, fight them over there so we don't have to fight them over here, Saddam, al Qaeda, 9/11,
the terrorist surveillance act, Islamic - Fascists, and so on ..... all b.s. by bush and his criminal gang.
According to Sy Hersch, next stop Iran.

1. Not before the midterms, though
I listened to Sy Hersh talk about this on Democracy Now! yesterday, and what he has to say shouldn't put anyone's mind to ease. Here's the relevant part of the interview:

Democracy Now! interview with Seymour Hersh, August 14, 2006

AMY GOODMAN: Just a few months ago, you wrote the piece, "The Iran Plans: How Far Will the White House Go?" talking about the U.S. plans to bomb Iran. Where do you think the current situation now leaves the United States and the Middle East?

SEYMOUR HERSH: Well, you can't apply rationality to it, because I think it's simply something Bush and Cheney want to do. As I said earlier, they want to take out Iran. They don't want to talk to it. They believe it’s, you know, the axis of evil cubed. And so, frankly, my real worry is what's going to happen -- I think nothing's going to happen before this election. That's impossible. My real worry is what's going to happen when George Bush is a lame duck. He's talking about, privately now, so I’m told and so I’ve written, about Winston Churchill. If you remember, after leading England to war in World War II, he was turned out by the voters, and he wasn't fully appreciated until years later. So I think he sees himself in the position of “I know I’m right. They don't quite believe me. But I’m going to do the thing I think is right, the right thing. And maybe in 30 or 50 years, they'll come to accept me for the great president I think I am.” And so, that's what we really have as leadership right now.

2. Sy gives these folks a lot more credit for good intentions than I do
I don't believe for a split second that * thinks he's doing the right thing. Nope, I'm just not that naive.

3. Sy probably should have elaborated
Because I'm sure he realizes Bush**'s only true interest is doing the right thing for himself; to ensure his place in history as a powerful leader. That's why he's been all over the map for 5 years, at home and abroad, making "big" decisions against the advice of those who know better and shifting blame as fast as the disastrous results unravel. Iran is just another point of pride to Bush**, another potential victory to silence his detractors once and for all and cement his legacy.

No matter who wins the midterms, it looks as if the world has to survive two and half more years of Bush**'s unchecked vanity.

God help us all.
