I went to a Democratic grassroots training last weekend, and one of the speakers in particular was excellent. He said that when a person brings up the abortion issue, say back that the issue really is "Do you really want to give the government a seat at your kitchen table telling your family what to do in your private life?"
"Do you really want to pay more taxes to fund government programs? You know, the ones to support women who would have gotten an abortion because they financially were not able to raise an unwanted child and now have to rely on the government because their right to make decisions for themselves and their well being has been stolen?"
2. The Title Should Say Anti-Choice, Not Anti-Abortion For This Reason.
I am anti-abortion for a large majority of cases, but in no way condone forcing that belief on others. Therefore I don't really deserve to be a subject of that rant. Whereas phrasing it as an argument for the anti-choice people, that would've excluded me and been accurate :)
