...Lieberman loses the Democratic nomination for Senate basically because he's not Democratic enough. So now he thinks he's going to automatically get all available Republican and independant votes by spewing right-wing talking points from now 'til November?
Am I the only one that thinks the Lieberman team is miscalculating just a tad?
First of all, no matter how much Lieberman woos Republicans, a majority of 'em simply will not vote for any Democrat. Period. Some of 'em will vote for Lieberman in the hopes of making things difficult for the Democrats as a whole, but most will either hold their nose and vote for Mr. Schlessinger or sit the whole thing out altogether.
Secondly, how far does Senator Lieberman expect to get with independents while unabashedly supporting a war in Iraq? Last time I checked, a majority of independents were against the war as well.
Third, Joe can go ahead and abandon all hope of getting any significant support from loyal Democrats from here on in. They're already pissed with his track record of "me first" campaigning. Running for both Vice President and Senate in 2000. Running now as an independent. Bashing Democratic mainstays like Ms. Waters because they simply support the DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE who BTW agrees with their anti-war stance.
Joe will still get more votes than I'd like to see him get, but it won't be as easy as he thinks---especially if he STILL hasn't gotten a clue. Just sayin'...
