More good news: Whitehouse opens 6-pt lead over Chafee
That is if Chafee can survive his GOP primary.

Whitehouse beats Chafee 44-38 but if Laffey defeats Chafee in the primary it's a blowout with Whitehouse winning 55-31 percent.

I'm predicting that yet another incumbent Senator will lose his primary--Lincoln Chafee (and how will the media interpet that?)

1. I feel bad in a way
Chafee is the GOP version of Lieberman. Rethuglicans can't stand the guy, since he's pretty moderate. And unlike Holy Joe, he actually seems to be a pretty decent guy. He's only a Repug to honor the wishes of his late father (who held the seat before him). He's nice to have around, as he's one of the few GOP liberal-moderates still left.

Nonetheless, he is of the GOP.

4. I don't
He votes with the Republicans making sure that the Senate is under Frist's control. He didn't filibuster on key S.C. nominees like Joe. I want a progressive Democrat in this seat not some moderate Republican who enables the Frists, Allens, Hatches and the rest of them.

5. He gives the GOP a majority
We need this seat, because the guy caves when there's a REALLY close vote. I agree he's a decent guy, but this should be a Dem seat. He could switch parties, or even caucus with the Dems while remaining a Rethug. But he doesn't.

7. I totally agree
A Dem should have that seat.

Chafee has it because he's not a conservative. Rhode Island would never elect a far-right idiot like Santorum.

But a part of me does giggle a little thinking how much he ticks off the cons.

2. Okay, wait a minute...
There is really a race between LAFFEY and CHAFEE?

I picture one giggling fool, and one guy whose shorts are too tight! LOL! Laffey-Chafee!

3. Shouldn't Laffey and Chafee have to run together on a ticket?
Complete with the joke on the wrapper

Q: What do you think about Laffey-Chaffee?
A: I dunno, they're a little fruity.

6. If Chafee would just turn Dem I think he might be able to pull
of a win. Lets play musical chairs and get some people in the party they belong in. He is one of the VERY few I could tolerate if they changed.
