Gingrich: There Is An ‘Insurgency’ in CT Which Says ‘Can’t We Come
Edited on Sun Aug-06-06 01:44 PM by CatWoman
Home and Hide?

This morning on Fox News, Newt Gingrich claimed there is a “legitimate insurgency in Connecticut, which needs to be met head on,” made up of people who say Iraq “is so hard, it is so frightening, it’s so painful, can’t we come home and hide?” Gingrich said that if the “insurgency” wins, “it will be the beginning of extraordinarily important period in American politics, and in American history.”

2. If, they are bringing out Newt, they're desperate
Smell the fear, there is blood in the water and the sharks are circling. Their biggest fear
is that the American people will wake up and say no more war for a lie, no more money for
beltway insiders, no more money for big oil and the rich. Igor, quick, the slumber ray, the
American people are waking up, 10 more hours of American Idol, quickly, please.

Gingrich May Run in 2008 If No Front-Runner Emerges

By Juliet Eilperin
Washington Post Staff Writer
Saturday, June 10, 2006; Page A04

Former House speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) expects to run for president in 2008 if the contest for the Republican nomination still seems wide open late next year, he said yesterday ...

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/06/09/AR2006060901444.html

Newt's also been very excited about the prospect of announcing that we're fighting WW III:

Newt & the Neocons Pitch World War III -- Who's Buying It?

... Newt Gingrich, the former speaker of the United States House of Representatives, is using any platform available to him to convince the public that the U.S. is engaged in World War III. ... While Gingrich's media tour definitely thrust him back into the national political spotlight, it may have also given the public a sneak peek into the Republican Party's political/marketing strategy for the November congressional elections: If the war on terrorism doesn't create a fearful enough climate amongst voters, why not ratchet it up by mentioning the spectre of a World War III? ... John Stauber ... <told IPS> 'You've got to call it something and five years after 9/11 with Osama .. still roaming free and Iraq an American quagmire, and the Republican Party in danger of losing control of Congress, this ploy makes marketing sense'" ...

4. If I may quote a young Alvy Singer, in "Annie Hall":
"What an asshole."

To use the word "insurgency" to once again try to tar all opponents of disastrous neo-con policy as traitors who give aid and comfort to the enemy, only shows how fearful they are of a unified Democratic stance against the war and the fascist tendencies of this cabal.

Edited on Sun Aug-06-06 02:11 PM by Marr
I believe that was the title of Gingrich's little '96 memo on how to demonize your enemies with propaganda.

Conservative propagandists use the words "insurgent" and "terrorist" interchangeably. He's about two inches away from calling liberals terrorists here. It's not exactly surprising rhetoric, considering they've shown no hesitation to describe Democrats as traitors for years now- but it's a particularly disgusting choice of words from a man who understands the power of labels.

35. "Insurgency" = CT VOTERS
Imagine that. Real people are going out to vote in CT for a candidate who breaks all the rules. Lamont was an unknown a few short months ago; now, his message has resonated with the people of Connecticut, and in many parts of the country.

They aren't listening when the Democratic bigwigs tell them who to support.

They aren't listening when the chattering class bemoans the state of the Democratic party and says a Lieberman loss will threaten the party.

They aren't listening when they are told that Holy Joe represents their best hope.

They aren't listening to anyone who tells them who to vote for, because "we're insiders and we know better."

Yeah, they're insurgents. Just like those folks who dumped tea into the Boston Harbor.

And, memo to Newt: It ain't about war. It's about THIS war. I get sick of the pundits calling all of us "anti-war." It's not "so hard" it's a big loss. Cutting your losses while you can isn't "hiding;" it's smart.

38. There was a reason Republicans once said "Tell Newt to SHUT UP"
Remember when Susan Smith drowned her kids... and Newt blamed the Democrats (until it came out that being molested by her "Americans for Robertson" stepfather probably had a bigger impact on her values)

Remember that horrific case where a woman was murdered for her baby which hadn't been born yet -- the killers actually carved it out of her -- which Gingrich declared an act of "welfare values", despite the fact that the only one involved on welfare was the victim.

A major factor in Newt's career was his compete absence of shame, his ability to say absolutely anything to denounce his opposition with complete conviction without the slightest regard to whether it was true.

Even worse are the people who think Newt is some sort of brilliant scholar and strategist: as a political strategist, his "brilliance" was simply his afroementioned shamlessness, and a willingness to destroy anything that got in his way (without regard for the value of what was destroyed). And his reckless disregard for any facts that get in his way leaves him utterly incapable of even understanding what a "scholar" is, much less being one.

It soon will be.

And for what?

Gingrich is only concerned about the power of the Republican party and has no concern that the outcome in Iraq has no good ending since our weakness has already been exposed - and it's the opposite of what he says it is. Our weakness is our inability to know when to mind our own fucking business and when to admit that we are wrong. Inability to admit failure will be the end of us all. Deliberate commission of national suicide is reason for revolution. He better just STFU before it's too late and we're killing each other.

Boggle. Best of five series.

I win: Newt shuts his fat draft-dodging, war-mongering, wedge-issuing, anti-We the People yap and goes away. He doesn't even have to apologize for WHIG, his 1994 Republican revolution and its eventual collapse, or the pollution of American discourse that his sewage-spewing mind is a fountain of. Just. Go. Away.

Newt wins: I promise not to ever comment on any of his future divorces and remarriages, or comment (publicly) about the parasitic nature of his role in enabling fascism.

Mano a mano. Or whatever he is.

The far-right can see a split coming between the NeoCons and Conservatives over the war.

"Hammer Time"

LeoCon speak: Republican minions that break rank (call for troop reduction) will be considered "insurgents" and you will "be met head on" -- This is an "extraordinarily important period" of our regime, descent will not be tolerated -- So think before you speak -- That goes for you too, Dems (Ned)

The same as any other dictatorial regime.
