What is the purpose of the Lebanese army?

So far it seems like all they do is run around counting and reporting the number of dead civilians.

Is that their job?

In fact, I'd probably bet that the Lebanese army is much more potent than the Australian army, and vastly more powerful than the New Zealand army.

Very, very few countries have an army that is ready to go to war.

The fact that they are incapable of preventing the private army of a political faction from operating within Lebanon's borders and waging its own wars shows that Lebanese sovereignty is a myth.
