It's the annexation, stupid!
http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/HH05Ak01.html

"This would put Israel, assuming for a moment that the Israel Defense Forces' operations prove ultimately successful, in control of the Litani River, thus fulfilling Israel's founding fathers' dream, stretching back to Chaim Weizmann, head of the World Zionist Organization, who in 1919 declared the river "essential to the future of the Jewish national home".

Good article about the REAL meaning of the Israel/Lebanon war by Kaveh Afrasiabi in Asia Times

6. Not me and before this, I didn't have an opinion on the state of Israel.
Now however, I am solidly against Israel.

3. There was a post about the Litini (sp?) River a few weeks ago
It made alot of sense. Israel is a country with limited water supplies and no oil. You know, there really is enough for everyone, even with the growing population. Some places have too much water, some next to none, some huge oil reserves, some none, some whatever natural resource, some none. I'm a single dad, raising three kids. One of the first things they learned was SHARE! Every country, (money talks) is greedy to the bone. If People would share, they'd find out that there's ehough for all.

4. Yes , but you're thinking RATIONALLY
and logically. That doesn't work in the desert death-cults.

5. The illegal apartheid wall they're building on the West Bank
puts all the aquifers and fresh water wells on Israel's side. Not to mention the most fertile farmland. Just like Iraq, this is a resource war being fought under the guise of fighting terrorism.

And I have nothing against them. I just like to see both sides of the story.

8. If you consider the occupation of the West Bank and Israeli control
of the water supplies there, then this does make sense. They places their illegal settlements strategically.

I think it would be niave to believe this gross over-reaction doesn't have an underlying cause. It's not about those 2 soldiers.

9. Fascinating -- I've brought up the possibility of a water angle before,
but not many people seem to have given it much thought -- if they aren't dismissing the notion outright.

15. Actually, I have been bookmarking the water threads (among others)
It was a perspective I hadn't thought of and I was waiting to see how things panned out.

16. They were forced out by Hizballah.
If you'd like a better historical overview than you can get from Wikipedia (which I noticed you cited in another post), please check out the article I linked in an earlier post:
