GOP Chair Says Democrats Weak on Terror
The head of the Republican Party accused Democrats of being willing to surrender the tools necessary to combat terrorism as the GOP tries to capitalize on its national security advantage in a tough election year.

Faced with President Bush's low approval ratings and diminishing support for the Iraq war, the Republican strategy is to make the war on terrorism a central campaign issue and argue that Democrats hold a pre-Sept. 11 view of the world.

Ken Mehlman, the chairman of the Republican National Committee, stressed that argument in a speech Friday at the organization's two-day summer meeting, similar to points made by White House adviser Karl Rove in January.

``America faces a critical question,'' Mehlman said in his prepared text. ``Will we elect leaders who recognize we're at war and want to use every tool to win it, or politicians who would surrender important tools we need to win?''

9. Agreed.That's the only issue Rethugs poll better at....
and it's only about 34-32%. So, yes, that will be Rethug mantra. It's easy to head, off, too. That report about The US not having.... a single division ready to deploy would be devastating. Also, I'd NEVER mention leaving Iraq without first saying..... "I'm for killing the guy that did 9/11. When this Iraq-nam idiocy is over we can go get him."

Throw in all the time.... 3 years... The AWOL/moron and his rethugs have failed to support the troops.... not with yellow car ribbons.... but with body armor, vehicle armor and proper helmuts.... etc....

It's an easy claim to defeat.... so Dems need to go on offense... but I'm guessing we don't.

We're Democrats, for crying out loud. We don't fight. We cut and run. And we burn flags on the weekends, when we're not officiating at gay weddings.

Not to mention our full-time jobs of recruiting straight teens & youngsters into the gay cause while forcing them to give up their guns and church-going to lead a secular life full of casual drug use, pornography, inter-racial sex, gay bathhouses, orgies, flag & bra burning, book reading, commie-loving and tree hugging.

6. Hey Ken - There'd BE no 9-11 if BushInc hadn't protected terrorists and
their banking networks abetted by his crony international financiers. Why did BushInc and his cronies work to protect the terrorists' funding while John Kerry was working to investigate and EXPOSE those terror networks from 1986-1992?

And why did Bill Clinton close the books on most of that info Kerry wanted open to the public? Why did Clinton choose to protect Poppy Bush and his cronies who funded and protected the terrorists?

24. The Tools to fight terror
We need to surrender the following tools in order to win the war on terror (or whatever the fuck we're calling it this week):


Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.


Amendment IV
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.


Amendment V
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.


Amendment VI
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.


Amendment VIII
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.


Amendment IX
The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.
