Sheriff Strain on the front page again this morning -- the heat is on
..."We just want him to retract or clarify his statements, including comments about running defense lawyers out of town on a rail and equating hurricane evacuees and public housing residents from New Orleans with 'thugs and trash,' " she said, referring to Strain's remarks in the TV interview about the threat of "spillover crime" from New Orleans...

1. More from the article...
Spell praised the sheriff for releasing the employee data but said the numbers don't change Strain's comments, which she said have had a chilling effect on African-American residents across the parish.

"This information is just one piece of the puzzle we need to lay down on the floor and try to figure out why he felt so comfortable outlining a policy of racial profiling that is clearly unconstitutional," she said.

2. This is an interesting statement, right here:
"I have no concerns that they will find any evidence of discrimination in any of our records," he said, adding that the Sheriff's Office has never been found guilty of violating the civil rights of an employee or citizen during his tenure.

Because it is absolute.

3. Four Treme Killings?
I wonder what that's all about. "Suspects older brother still on the loose."

4. I wonder what the Treme shooting has to do with this thread....
Yet another red herring?

The heat is on. And there is more to come....

5. One could think that this thread is about the front page of today's T-P
since you've chosen to display it and everything on it. And I believe it is a very enlightening page, don't you?

6. I think this is getting to be a big deal, don't you?
Do you think that a generalized comment that all displaced people from New Orleans are "trash" and "thugs" is appropriate. If so, please keep defending Jack. You will certainly be in good company:
