Justice Department to monitor election in Tennessee
The United States Justice Department will monitor today's primary and local elections in Shelby County, Tennessee, RAW STORY has learned.

The County includes the city of Memphis. Memphis has been the site of questionable election management, including a recent election in Shelby where a number of ballots were "cast" by the dead.

The Department indicated in a release today that it, "will watch and record activities during voting hours at various polling locations in the city to ensure compliance with the Voting Rights Act."

The law's renewal, recently signed by President Bush, had become a source of controversy within certain Congressional Republican factions.

1. Are they also going to make sure our votes are counted
properly by our new Hart InterActive electronic "voting" machines?

That's more of a threat than a couple of dead people voting.

4. LOL. Maybe we can get Jimmy Carter? Ga. is just next door so he
wouldn't have to travel far! HE at least has a lot of experience in watching elections to insure fairness and eliminating fraud!
