Blunt: If I Stay In Charge-Congress Won’t Do Anything On Global Warming
Majority Whip Blunt: If I Stay In Charge, Congress Won’t ‘Do Anything Meaningful’ On Climate Change
Today in Energy and Environment Daily (sub. req’d), House Majority Whip Roy Blunt (R-MO) said that if he remains in power after the November elections, there will be no action on global warming for the entire 110th Congress:

Continued Republican House and Senate majorities would likely mean more of the same on climate. House Majority Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) said he would oppose global warming mandates if Republicans control the 110th Congress. “I think the information is not adequate yet for us to do anything meaningful,” he said.

Actually, thousands of scientists have agreed that global warming is real, humans are responsible for much of it and, unless steps are taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, there will be extremely serious consequences.

61 House members – including Rep. Jim Leach (R-IA) – understand this and have co-sponsored Rep. Henry Waxman’s Safe Climate Act. Waxman’s bill is a serious and practical effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. You can find more information of the Safe Climate Act here.

7. When Repukes are out of Congress
Perhaps the first "meaningful" thing Dems could do is to pass a law requiring all science-denying buttheads to move to FEMA distributed shelters on coral reef islands in the middle of the Pacific. Once they start treading water, rising sea levels might just become a personal issue. Bikini Atoll seems a fit choice. They'd probably not have to deal with radiation sickness as first they'd likely drown or be shark bait as the tides carry them away to that New World Bali Hai they so looked forward to.

8. I hope
Blounts house is ruined by the effects of global warming, really.. I do. I'd like to see it washed away in a flood, burnt to a crisp with lightening, torn apart in wind, whatever hit by a intense storm . I want every single one of these re thugs to face property damage, and injuries/death PERSONALLY caused by the extreme weather global warming is causing,THAN maybe when the comfy self absorbed, narcissistic, rich evil hearted re thugs realize they are not in control, never were in control, and their money can't protect them,or save them or exempt them they will wake the fuck up I hope for them it is too late It is about time mother nature deleted the authoritarian personality, the"rigid control freak" the abusers of power and trust, the exploiter, and all the rich bullies from the human race..
The psychopathic conduct disordered authoritarian personality is a drag on human evolution..Nature if it had any sense of survival would eliminate the so called'alphas'of all species when they become exploitative.

9. The Dems could hand the GOP their heads with this one in November
...if they only knew to push the issue. The gops are so far out of the mainstream on this.

10. There will be never enough evidence for you to do anything
You ignored problems concerning the run up to the Iraq War and ongoing Iraq problems for the last 3 years
You ignored problems concerning 9-11, pre and post coverup of negligence
You ignored ethical and corruption problems of your members related to Abramoff
You ignored problems concerning Katrina

but rub two hundred dollars bills together and you GOP'ers are there in a flash.

That's okay, you can take a permanent vacation after November, you have earned it.

11. It's said people don't know what to do... well:
1. Stop using tvs
2. Power everything off and unplug it; hardware is made so that, even when it's "off", it still uses power and for most devices, it's ridiculous to do.
3. Turn off lights when not in use
4. Do as much in one trip as needed to avoid needless driving
5. Remind your H1B pals that nobody is deliberately trying to terraform the northern states and Canada into that of Asia. (it's not politically correct, but most seem to dig it... well, those who know and like me... )
6. Use eminent domain wisely so residential and corporate can be merged together; this means less driving for all and a big savings on gas. No more suburb mcmansion crap that looks and is tacky and so cheaply built they do nothing but waste energy anyway. (or so I've been told.)
7. Find groups of people with common interests and get out more.
8. See #7 but even make a commune of sorts; everyone shares a building but still has their own private space.

That's off the top of my head and I do as much as I can (#s 1-5, #6 does not involve me, #7 and 8 I am about to do because everybody needs friends and a support group). And there's a lot more people can do too. If they think outside their nucular boxes...

12. Blunt's Global Warming statement
Let's paste this statement far and wide and label it exhibit 36 as to why we need to return a Democratic majority.

(Even if some of our individual Democratic Representatives--such as my Representative Stephanie Herseth--have disappointed us greatly.)

13. Even if that were the case..
I think the information is not adequate yet for us to do anything meaningfully

Even if that were true, there are two basic options:

1) Wait and do nothing
2) Do something

If you wait and do nothing, worst case scenario is that global warming reaches the tipping point where we cannot reverse it and earth eventually mimics the atmosphere of venus.

If you Do something and it turned out global warming was just "a big myth", worst case scenario is a few companies that over-pollute the planet make a few less bucks.

Hmmm decisions decisions.....

15. Delay... "Boner"... Blunt... America's finest!
How can a talented country with 250+ million people end up with such losers as leaders?

The irony of the political process is that the American people are the real losers.

Take the money out of politics, or, shut up and enjoy the downward spiral.

16. Assholes & Idiots.
In a way, I can't wait for the day to come when they wake up in Missouri on a January morning to see the weatherman forecasting a 100-degree high temperature. They'll still probably be in denial & be wondering "Uhhhh...WTF is happening here?":eyes:
