Bush is NOT from Maine.
something that I would like to clear up here. (LOL, I know nobody wants him) But since there was some discussion in a post in LBN, I thought I'd bring it here and point this out and get it cleared up once and for all.

here's the LBN thread it came from:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x2424204

He's not from Maine, the family vacations here. He was born in Conneticuit, and grew up in Midland, Texas.

This is not meant to be flame bait, I just think we should all have our facts straight.

4. I have to look at it like this.
They are my paycheck. I only have so many weeks up here to make enough money to live through the winter. This week is what makes or breaks it. Lobster Festival. Nothing like a few hundred thousand extra people in town for five days.

Senior was up here a couple of weeks ago having lunch on a big fat yacht in Camden.

13. I once watch them leave the inlet in Gloucester Ma. and
the living rooms on the boats were bigger and better than my home. Took my breath away.

18. Here's one clue:
Bush's partner, John Overbey, still remembers the dizzying whirl of a money-raising trip to the East with George and Uncle Herbie: lunch at New York's 21 Club, weekends at Kennebunkport where a bracing Sunday dip in the Atlantic off Walker's Point ended with a servant wrapping you in a large terry towel and handing you a martini.

3. I'm sure glad he hasn't spent much time in NC.
We have enough right wing wackos already that we have to admit to. I would just die if we had to own up to that nutcase too.

21. He may be a CT boy but he
tries very hard to not remind people of it. He thinks he is a TX boy. We in CT are okay with that, as we DON'T want him to claim CT.

14. General Philip H. Sheridan said...
“If I owned Hell and Texas I would rent out Texas and live in Hell”

He must have looked into the future and saw Bushco.

23. Well Texas was happy to obligie Mr Sheridan
They voted 80-20 % to leave the United States and Mr Sheridan fought for four years to keep them. His way of fighting turned out to be very successful also, burning the Confederacy's breadbasket Shenandoah Valley so thoroughly that "a crow would have to pack a lunch to fly across it."

If Bush would only follow his advice we'd quiet them Iraqis. Just burn their food supplies. Some voices from the past just don't offer us much.

20. When did he move to Texas?
Wasn't he about three or four?

I grew up in NYC and moved to Texas when I was 21. That was over 25 years ago. I consider myself a Texan. Am I not?

A 60 year old Mexican-American who moved to Texas from Coahuila, Mexico 40 years ago. Is he not a Texan? Is he a Mexican?

I know people saying Bush is not a Texan is meant as a joke, but when they say it, they're also saying I'm not a Texan either, and neither are millions of good Texans who were born in Mexico and many other places, and I don't like that.

16. Does Anything Go On At Kennebunkport Anymore?
Is that still poppy's place? You sure don't see asshat racing around in a cigarette boat like his old man did.

BTW...I hear Pickles is vacationing in Alaska...without doofus. Must be lonely nights on that chicken ranch in Texas this summer.

17. Poppy didn't even own Walker's Point
Edited on Mon Jul-31-06 08:59 AM by kskiska
until he was chosen to be Ray-gun's VP in 1980, sort of a stage set like Junior's in Crawford. It had been in the family, though, on the Walker side.

It'll be interesting to see whether the house will remain in the family once Poppy and Bar are gone, whether Junior, who professes to disdain everything associated with his New England roots, will take possession.

19. We have a few homegrown morons..
Thankfully,Bush isn't one of them. For that matter, does he even vacation here anymore? Seems like he's always going to Crawford...a vacation choice which I hope he continues to make in the future.
