Waco Police arrest Secret Service agent
This is a few days old but I got a kick out of it.

Waco Police tasered and arrested a US Secret Service agent at a downtown Waco bar after a scuffle.
<>
Police say there were reports that in the early morning hours of July 21, 30-year-old John Scott Lewis was being rude to some customers at Cricket's Bar and Grill.

Lewis is a special agent with the US Secret Service and is from Crofton, Maryland.

The report and Police say Lewis got into an argument with the manager and when the manager asked him to leave, Lewis pushed open the front door so hard it cracked.

Two off-duty Waco officers working security tried to arrest Lewis; he resisted, and was tasered one time.

1. This was posted earlier tonight. I know this agent, and he's really
a good guy. I know everyone is always looking for some dirt on any authority, but I think we should wait to hear the rest of the story.

9. I'm from around there. He may be a good guy, but he sure gets stupid
when he drinks.

Don't go screwing with bar bouncers and cops in Waco.

6. Scott is not from Tx. He was, as far as I can tell, on Shrub detail.
Waco is fairly close to Crawford. I used to live in San Antonio, but have never been to Waco so no I don't know anything about the bar.

I only know Scott. I realise people do unexpected things, but he really is a good guy, and I've known hin since he was about 10 years old.

I can guarantee you there's more to this story than what we've heard so far.

I sent an email to him Mother, who is also a close friend of mine.

I will reserve judgement until I find out what really happened.

11. I'm willing to wait for the whole story before passing judgment.
But I don't think I'm willing to take the word of your friend's mother about her own son. Mothers tend to overlook failings in their own children and then there's always mama bear syndrome. I will be looking for news reports that flesh out the details, though. I hope you're right about there being more to it than meets the eye. Even with bush* as pResident, we need SS agents who know how to behave themselves in public.

12. I'm not taking the word of anyone's mother! I know Scott!

I also know his mother. Their family were my neighbors, and I first knew him at age 10, he mowed our grass as a summer job, I saw him play football through HS, and heard from him while he was in college at the Citadel. After he graduated, he joined the SS, and I still talk to him once in a while. His Mom is still a friend of mine, but so is he!

13. I'm not trying to slight your friends in any way.
I'm just saying personal accounts from those involved tend to be skewed, in this case whether it be from the SS agent or his mother.

If this was my friend, I'd be saying the same things you are as that's what friends do, trust one another. But I don't know him and would like to see the eventual news reports on it.

I hope you're right about him.

14. I do too. I talked to him mother tonight, and she said
it's not the whole truth and nothing but the truth. He was tasered and he was arrested, but he didn't destroy any property and did not resist arrest. She said she will call me when she is allowed to talk.

This is an SS agent you know!

We'll see what finally happens, and I know what you're saying about personal relationships, and you're right of course. I know people do things all the time that surprise us. All I really ask is to wait to hear the whole story before we beat the sh*t out of this guy just because of the job he had.

7. Most of the special agents and uniformed Secret Service...
...are dedicated government employees. Unfortunately, during Bush I, the leadership at the service turned into a de facto Praetorian guard for the BFEE.

8. This one wasn't hired during Bush I.
Scott was hired sometime during the 2000 campaign, so he's been an agent for about 6 1/2 years. I know his first detail was guarding Cheney in Wyoming, and he thought it was fun riding horses through the trails.

He's had many other details since then because that's the way the SS works. It appears, this time, he had Crawford duty. Bless him for having to endure TX in July and August!!!!! I lived there, and it's awful!

I still say, wait until you hear the whole story.
