JESUS make Qana known for a WEDDING -- iISRAEL for FUNERALS

Jesus made wine flow for celebration, the Israelis make blood flow for war.

Are the Israelis trying to make some perverse point while they flatten this
ancient town.

1. I thought this hamlet was of Biblical significance, the spelling is
different so I was not sure. Thank you for confirming it.

2. I remember the bombing Jesus' birthplace a week or so ago
I wonder if the media will be bringing news of this bombing of the site of Jeseus' first miracle like it did the bombing of Jesus' birthplace? Or will discussion of that be off-limits because of who did the bombing?

4. Nope

The media mentioned it because of the irony that two young Arab boys were killed. And that they have no air raid sirens or shelters. I guess a mainly Arab town isn't as important.

14. It was Nazareth - where Jesus spent his youth - not Bethlehem
where Jesus was born. Nazareth was bombed, not Bethlehem.

Just a minor correction. :hi:

6. That was Cana
Don't think it's the same place. But yeah, when I turned on the news this morning and had to spend about 15 minutes trying to figure out just what happened, I thought I heard that, too, and I thought the same thing.

it last week in its piece on biblical sites in the line of fire.

8. Not the same city.
Cana was in Galilee, and doesn't exist anymore.

9. Doesn't exist anymore because the most holiest of places were
"given" to Israel?

You cannot wipe out history and say places don't exist anymore.

13. Doesn't exist because it is not inhabited, and has not even been located.

Edit: Galilee is the area around the Sea of Galilee, now Lake Tiberias.

12. Three "Canas":
One south of Tyre, one in Galilee (Kfar Kana), and the other north of there a ways (Khirbet Kana).

Those Kanas have kaph. Anybody know if Qana has a qoph or a kaph in Hebrew?

Never mind: Just checked Haaretz ... qoph. Different pronunciation, different words.

So there's Kana, and Qaneh. Best not to confuse them.

16. All 3 sites claim to be the original site of Jesus' miracle
Qana is one possible site for the Biblical Cana, where Jesus is said to have turned water into wine. Qana has long been viewed as a city hated by Israel and visa versa. The notorious "Qana shelling" took place on April 18, 1996.

Amid heavy fighting between the Israeli Defense Forces and Hezbollah during "Operation Grapes of Wrath", a UNIFIL compound in the village was shelled by Israeli artillery going after 800 Lebanese civilians who had taken refuge there to escape the fighting.

Reportedly, 106 were killed and around 116 others injured. Four UNIFIL soldiers were also seriously injured in an episode refered to by Human Rights Watch as "the Qana massacre."
