Edited on Wed Jan-18-06 01:08 PM by Loonman
Personally, I'm glad the ACLU is 'trying to remove' God and religion from the public square. The so-called "public square" is frequented by everybody, and for some reason I doubt my city would allow me to build a shrine to Satan, Baal, or The Great Ktulu in front of the State house or in Government Center.

Nobody has taken away anybody's Bible
No churches have been locked down
No priests have been arrested for preaching.

'Christian persecution' does not exist. Not in America, anyway, so keep your God(s) in your home and Church where they belong.

3. Hypocrisy
This is what ticks me off. I guess he and his wife aren't the "right religion". I hate that kind of stuff.

2. Amen Brother!
:applause: People forget that what is good for the goose is good for the gander...this country is teetering on becoming a one religion nation - something our founding fathers knew the dangers of.

4. Yeah, you probably think the First Amendment MEANS what it SAYS, too.

5. As someone who was the recipient of school sanctioned religious
proselyting in a public school classroom during school hours during the 1950's, I heartily support the ACLU. We've forgotten (if we ever knew) what it was like before our rights to our own religious beliefs were protected by the federal courts.

6. I have a feeling...
that God is not checking with mortal moralists before he goes anywhere.

GEEZE!

7. Exactly
If you want real persecution look even in the New Testament at what happened to the apostles. They were stoned, beheaded, put in jail. That isn't happening here. Just because you can't get your way all the time doesn't mean you're persecuted. I'm a Christian and I've been more "persecuted" for being a liberal than I have for being a Christian. Now what does that tell you?

8. "'Christian persecution' does not exist"
It will if the flockers don't wake up and see that the very politicians in Washington, who they have so foolishly supported, in their selfish bullshit "MORAL" crusades, are operating just like the Nazis, who once tricked the unsuspecting church going folks in pre WW II Germany. The wolf is breathing down the sheep's backs again and again, the sheep are, as always, the last ones to ever see the wolf, for what he really is.

10. That's been my point all along
It would be one thing if ALL religions could be represented if one is to be represented. That is not the agenda of these "praying on the street corner" people.

As long as we can have a Venus of Willendorf or a nice Kwan Yin representation or perhaps the Wicca creed of "Harm none" along side the Ten Commandments, then we can talk. That ain't gonna happen.
