From America with Love: 5000 lb. smart bombs over Lebanon
I can't really make any comment about this right now because I'm entirely too furious/sick/guilty about the death and destruction we are spreading around the world. I'll leave that to y'all for now. Read and weep.

Britain complains over US flight carrying Israeli bombs

The British Government will make a formal complaint to the United States over its use of a British airport for transiting bombs to Israel, the Foreign Secretary said today.

Margaret Beckett said that it appeared the United States did not follow correct procedures when transporting arms to Israel via Britain.

Two chartered Airbus A310 cargo planes filled with GBU 28 laser-guided bombs landed at Prestwick airport, near Glasgow, for refuelling and crew rests after flying across the Atlantic at the weekend, defence sources told The Daily Telegraph.

Britain has been used as a staging post for major shipments of bunker-busting bombs from America to Israel. The Israelis want the 5,000lb smart bombs to attack the bunkers being used by Hezbollah leaders in Lebanon. The Government's agreement to the bomb flights was criticised last night by the Liberal Democrats.

1. This is insane. War is insanity.

You go to war because you want to do something fast. You use violence because you don't want to wait. You don't want to work conflicts out. You don't want to use your mind, your intelligence, your wit.

3. No complaints from poodle
though. This is fugging madness and Britain is complicit. Until the EU breaks off relations with the US, they will do what they want.

6. We just continue to reinforce our position as
the most hated country in the world. Instead of calling for a cease fire we supply most of the fire. If anyone had told me back in the day that in the 21st century I would be able to watch war as it happened I would have said "you are nuts." But it is on television everyday. The only way I can stop the war is to turn off the T.V. We are all living in the world's largest loony bin.

9. Cease fires are bad for business, don't you know?
America's number one all right -- number one in marketing death and destruction around the world! Be proud, America! Your kids may go to bed hungry, your elderly may not be able to afford their medicines, your dispossessed may be living in squalid FEMA trailers, but by gum we can kill the entire population of the planet ten times over! God Bless the U.S.A.!!

BTW, don't feed the homeless -- it's bad for business.

Israel to get U.S. "bunker buster" bombs - report
24 Jul 2006 07:56:26 GMT
Source: Reuters

DUBAI, July 24 (Reuters) - The United States will soon provide Israel with some 100 "bunker buster" bombs to kill the leader of Lebanon's Hizbollah guerrilla group and destroy its trenches, Asharq al-Awsat newspaper reported on Monday.

Quoting unidentified informed sources in both Washington and Tel Aviv, the Saudi-owned Arabic daily said the bombs, which can penetrate up to 40 metres (130 feet) under ground, would be shipped to Israel from a U.S. military base in Qatar...

Edited to add: I do not know whether these bombs from Qatar are in addition to the ones being flown via a stopover in Britain. It would appear these are two different shipments of bombs.

Do you think this is some kind of secret? Hell, this is the biggest dick-waving exhibition on earth. The U.S. bragged about using these in Iraq -- why be shy now? The Bushreich is probably getting a collective hard on just thinking about it. It's also a not-so-subtle warning to Syria and Iran, isn't it.

17. I guess civilian bomb-shelters are never underground either
rhetorical question :(

at the very least, every bomb we use means one more has to be made, aka purchased, and another neocon gets paid

my hate for these people is starting to seriously frighten me

19. War is a bloody racket
Can't have a ceasefire until the Israelis get to use at least some of those big puppies. Otherwise they might want to return them for a full refund.
