Inmate includes own name in bomb, anthrax threats

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A prison inmate pleaded guilty on Tuesday to sending letters to the
FBI and secret service that included bomb and anthrax threats -- as well as his full name and inmate number.

Donald Ray Bilby, 30, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Trenton to one count of false information and hoaxes after he sent five letters demanding authorities deposit $20,000 in his county jail inmate account because he needed money for bail, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

"I think it's fair to say we were not dealing with a great criminal mind here," U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie said in a statement.

Bilby signed all the letters using his full name and inserted his inmate number beneath his signature. One letter to the FBI included demands for money, a piece of paper labeled "anthrax" and a white powdery substance that turned out to be harmless.

What an unusual, weird case.

4. Me, I prefer forcing my daylilies to procreate.
Unfortunately, I didn't see the show. They may be trying to out-psych the authorities.

2. This should brighten your day:

The Sleazy Life and Nasty Death of Russia’s Spam King
He withheld pay from employees, boasted of his sexual adventures, enraged government officials, and flooded Russia with 25 million emails a day. Then one morning, Vardan Kushnir’s mother found his bloodied body on the bathroom floor, skull bashed in.
By Brett ForrestPage

Summer comes late to Moscow, and then barely at all. Windows fling open as the city breaks winter’s half-year clamp. Locals burst from dank living quarters, and crushing darkness gives way to high-latitude sunshine that extends well into the evening. Vardan Kushnir returned to his third-floor apartment in central Moscow on such a summer night last July, his head lightened by several rounds of top-shelf booze at a dark cliché of a club where female patrons often danced topless on the bar. It was time for a last drink or two in the company of several young women, one of them reportedly 15 years old. In the life of Russia’s most despised Internet figure, this was just another night.

Korean man excretes 48 wraps cocaine in Nigeria

Wed Jul 26, 10:18 AM ET

LAGOS (Reuters) - A Korean man has excreted 48 wraps of cocaine, weighing a total of 1.6 kilos (3.5 lbs), since his arrested three days ago at a Nigerian airport, the country's narcotics agency said on Wednesday.

"He is still excreting. It is a scary quantity to swallow," said a spokesman for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

Nigeria does not produce narcotics but has become a hub for trafficking.

Sentences for trafficking are relatively light in the West African country and do not really deter criminals, according to the U.S. State Department.
