If there was any doubt there wasn't a civil war going on in Iraq....
I hear this morning that 12 members of a Shia family were dragged out of their homes in a Sunni neighborhood, put into a van, and shot and killed. They had been warned to move out of the neighborhood. There is now so much hatred that this is what it has devolved into. Maybe they voted in the last election? Yes, we are winning the war in Iraq.

If so, we've succeeded - can we bring the troops home now?

4. Nope.
Rumsfeld has to tell certain Iraqis that the 4 or 5 largest, most fortified bases, out of the 15 or so that we are building, are ours, because we must maintain an "advisory" capacity there to keep the Shia from killing all of the Sunnis. So it's going to sound someting like this: We are no longer the lead military force in Iraq; we have "withdrawn" to those 4-5 super bases and troops are coming home all of the time ((though others will continuously be sent in their places)).

3. I just posted this as a reply to another thread but it works here as well
News Sources that are Relevant to the Iraq War

there are a lot of articles in the center of the link/page that I think you find helpful.

when you see the headlines on a daily basis and put them all together a civil war has been going for a while now, it just has not been headlined as such yet.

5. I just started this thread for a news article that you should definitely
check out:

I don't understand what appears to be complete denial by our government about what is happening over there.
