When I get a "Freeper" email at work....
...I simply forward it to the I.T. department, asking them if this is legal work traffic on the company email system.

Strangely enough, I have stopped getting email from Company Freeps, which, seeing as I no longer count ANY Freeps in my circle of friends, bothers me not at all.

I strongly suggest this reaction to Company Freeps.

1. And as a member of a company's IT Department...
You are TOTALLY RIGHT to do this...

2. Besides, it's FUN.
Perfectly legal Fun, and I.T. NEVER rats you out to the Freep if you don't want them to.

Frankly, I ALWAYS copy the Freep on the I.T. forward: I LOVE the reaction.

3. I personally think it should be office protocol,
that these types of political emails NOT be emailed around on company time. If one receives an outside email, fine. But NO distributing political-based emails on company systems on company time!

This rule would sure spare A LOT of division within the group.

4. It IS...
At least everywhere I've ever heard of.

Always seems to be more stringent on Lefties, though.

5. I don't get them from co-workers but this is the best strategy,
I think.

6. I am the IT department
But I work for a small marketing firm, creating database-driven websites for our clients. I and the other programmer are the only liberals in the office. One guy - the biggest "christian" in the company - sent out an email to everyone that showed the liberal versus conservative view in response to 9/11 and the Iraq War. Basically it was about a liberal family and a conservative family who are attacked. While the liberal husband is debating why they're being attacked, whether it's society's fault, how he'll look in other liberals' eyes if he fights back, his entire family is killed. The conservative response is simply: Blam. Blam blam blam blam blam... click click click (reload) Blam blam blam."

I replied all (including to a guy at his church which is a client of ours) that that wasn't exactly right. The situation if you're conservative is that:
1. You were told several times about imminent attacks from the mugger but did nothing to prepare for it
2. Your entire family was killed, and your immediate response was to get in your vehicle and drive around the countryside for several hours.
3. You promised everyone to find your family's killer dead or alive then promptly forgot about him because...
4. While your family was dying, you noticed some guy across the street that you never liked and decided to place the blame of your family's death on him even though he never had anything to do with it.
5. You beat the crap out of the second guy and get him sent to jail. Meanwhile, you constantly receive letters, emails, and videos from the mugger that mockingly tell you that he's still alive. You declare him to be irrelevant to all your friends though.

The boss, a big time republican but who finds me funny, emailed everyone and said not to send out political jokes anymore, but he called the guy who sent out the first email into his office for a special conversation. :)

8. It shows how they waste their time and company resources.

The fact that they have so much time on their hands should be brought to the attention of upper management so that they could make necessary workload adjustments.

10. I'm a union man. We can't do that.
Ethics, and something about not ratting out your brothers and sisters...all that crap. I just reply all with a diatribe, and sometimes a rabbit with a pancake on his head.

13. Not always.
You'd be amazed at the right wing bullshit I get from other members. Some of whom hate Bush, know how he's destroying the country, and wants to kick him out. Still, there's immigration, in your face X-tian pushiness, and plenty of other side issues to distract them.

16. It would explain all the corruption of the "leaders"
who spend tons of union money on hotels and stuff (you always hear about the "leaders" blowing the union funds ... who better to tarnish the union image than someone who subscribes to the political party bent on destroying worker rights?)

18. You've never seen that?
It's usually prefaced by "I have no idea what your talking about, but here's a bunny with a pancake on it's head.

Sort of like So-Cal Dem's "Here. Have a kitty" (which he photoshopped to look mutant)
