Why is it that the most reasoned comments on the Iraqi PM's statement
about Lebanon are coming from a Republican. At least Shays says he disagrees with the PM but "welcome to democracy." How can we deny this man the right to speak his opinion about an area he knows more about than any Democrat sitting in Congress. I am ashamed of all those who want to censure him.
1. Playing safe with voter prejudices in an election year?
Politicians aren't likely to lose many votes by dissing the Iraqi PM, but they think they might pick up, or retain, a few by being more pro-Israel than their opponent.
