If there is a draft...
What options do some of us (I'm 19) have to evade military service. Obviously I have one distinct one but I'm sure Dumbya will suddenly "repeal" Don't Ask, Don't Tell right in time if they announce a military draft.

How would border crossing to Canada work?
A chance of getting out as a CO are slim, I'm sure.

Just interested in some of your opionions!

3. Don't worry about the Draft, zc...
If it does happen, it will be really easy to skirt (no offense).
Just get in front of it.

The Draft will be easy to avoid.

4. As an alternative option...
You could go and do your best to ensure your fellow soldiers don't commit warcrimes and generally try to be a living example of a good soldier.

I know that doesn't help, but it's at least something.

5. start by signing the "I Will Not Kill" pledge . . .
to establish a track record of conscientious objection . . . it's a project of the Fellowship of Reconciliation, the nation's oldest peace group (and one of the most respected) . . .

6. You could become more involved with antiwar activities now.
Examples: Join your local Quaker/Friends Society and assist them with their projects. Join the War Resisters League. Write letters to the editor that criticize this invasion and state-sponsored aggression against other nations. Not only will you be on record as being more than a pacifist, but you may have some influence on policy down the road.

7. I wouldn't worry about it.
Only the Democrats, and only some of them, are talking about a draft. The Republicans, while vile and evil, are way too crafty to ever hand the opposition party an issue like this one. They would, instead, back of on their little war till a better time presented itself.
