What's A Joe Lieberman To Do These Days? The Highs - The Lows!
Edited on Wed Jul-26-06 12:22 AM by DistressedAmerican
The guy's life must be like a virtual roller coaster. He is getting his ass handed to him by an actual anti-war liberal. Yet at the same time, Israel has been given a free hand to kick Lebanese ass.

One minute he's down. The next he's up.

Like Elvis toward the end. Wonder if he can handle the pressure?

Poor Joe.

2. We get a good glimpse in about 13 days or so.
Somebody's gonna win that primary. Either Lamont's surge will capsize the good ship Lieberman or the old hand will fend off the fierce challenger.

Those Connecticut Democrats know how to hold a spellbinding election.

4. Joe Conason has a nice piece up on lieberman...
http://www.observer.com/20060731/20060731_Joe_Conason_politics_joeconason.asp

He discusses the non-truth (narrative, truthiness) re: the source of lieberman's woes being 'radical bloggers'.

Conason nails it, except for making the mistake so many make - forgetting exactly how stupid the American public is. Conason says:

"The American public now understands that the Bush administration deceived them about its reasons for invading Iraq..."

Au contraire, Joe:

"Half of Americans now say Iraq had weapons of mass destruction when the United States invaded the country in 2003 — up from 36 percent last year....In addition, 64 percent say Saddam had "strong links" with al Qaeda....Fifty-five percent said that "history will give the U.S. credit for bringing freedom and democracy to Iraq."....American confidence in the Iraqis has improved: 37 percent said Iraq would succeed in creating a stable democracy, up five points since November."

http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archives/individual/2006_07/009232.php

Joe: Don't ever bet against the stupidity of the American public. Ever. Not for any reason.

Americans are too stupid to hold on to something as valuable as the American ideal.
