Al Gore, Movie Star

Al Gore, leading man?

To borrow a cliché from the Hollywood marketing playbook, the new global warming documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" stars the former vice president as you've never seen him before.

Al Gore wheeling his own suitcase through airports, taking off his shoes and emptying his pockets at security. Al Gore firing up crowds with his one-man PowerPoint presentation show on arctic melt rates, devastating heat waves and dangerous changes in ocean currents.

Al Gore cracking jokes, reflecting candidly on his own foibles.

I can't wait to see this movie and then own it on DVD to show everyone I know.

It deserves to be the most widely-watched documentary since Fahrenheit 9-11.

The article is also on the LA Times website homepage www.latimes.com

It's in the frame "Today in Entertainment" on the right of your screen.

...might have been if we'd had an honest election in 2000 and a President Gore.

10. This is why I supported Gore since his first run for President
I wanted a President who would focus on global warming. We need a leader on this issue. I'm convinced that one of the major reasons the energy companies funded dimson and cheated their way to the power was to prevent Gore from addressing global warming. It threatens the dominance of the oil/auto/steel industry like no other issue.

I adore Gore.

24. don't forget the developers ...
The former mayor of Vancouver, Mike Harcourt, told me that the oil, car, and development industries are in cahoots. He called them "the iron triangle", and noted that they often lobby politicians together. More urban sprawl and monster-house subdivisions mean more driving around, and more gasoline use ... those companies make money, and the rest of us are stick with ruined communities and increasing pollution. The higher he got in politics (he was later a Canadian provincial premier, equivalent to a US governor), the more he saw of it.

18. He was great on "Futurama" too.
Edited on Wed Jan-18-06 01:59 PM by tridim
He's a triple-threat!

Fry: "Who are you people?"
Al Gore: "I'm Al Gore. And these are my vice presidential action rangers. A groupd of top-nerds whose sole duty is to prevent disruptions in the space-time continuum."
Fry: "I thought your sole duty was to cast the tie-breaking vote in the Senate."
Al Gore: "That, and protect the space-time continuum. Read the Constitution."
--
Al Gore: "If we don't go back there and make the event happen, the entire universe will be destroyed. And as an environmentalist, I'm against that."
--
And my favorite Futurama quote ever..
Al Gore: "To my left you'll recognize Gary Gygax, inventor of Dungeons & Dragons."
Gary Gygax: "Greetings! It's a" *rolls dice* "pleasure to meet you!"

And, BTW, Al Gore asked Al Franken to write all his material for it.
