2. Sorry, bad taste
I understand your frustration, but I don't cheer the death of anyone.

4. I don't think he's cheering death, at all. He's calling attention to...
...the focus which the MSM chooses to place (or not to place) on certain events.

8. CNN and NY Times
Both had pictures of dead or dying Lebanese civilians on their front pages.

Are you suggesting that their focus was not on the right events?

13. Not true
I visited the online NYT three times this morning and the pic on the front page was of a bombing in Haifa. Several others here on DU reported seeing that same pic.

Also, I just watched a report on CNN (just a few minutes ago as matter of fact) where reporters were covering the stories of wounded from both Israeli and Lebanese hosptials.

So what's your point?

5. I don't think he's "cheering"
rather than pointing out that you can't prioritize one of these fiascoes over the other....

3. Are you sure that it is not developing story?
I think CNN has had either Breaking News or Developing Story has had as their banner for the last week and a half 24/7

6. A lot of Americans died today, too.
Not overseas, but at home, due to....

* Homegrown terrorists (a/k/a street gangs)
* Malnutrition-related illness (from food stamp cuts)
* Injuries and illness (from having no health insurance)
* Suicide and homicide (from inadequate mental illness care)
* Heat-related death (some people can't afford air conditioning)

These are the wars we need to be fighting, instead of fighting in Iraq.

7. Exactly, who gives a shit about one Israeli
Or how many have died or were injured from the rocket attacks for the last 3+ years. Oh wait, I forgot, the rocket attacks were actually a new program to help Israel plant ficus. :eyes:

Maybe if people around here had paid attention to what Hezbollah was doing to northern Israel for the last 3 years and supported Lebanon and Israel in getting it stopped, this war wouldn't have had to happen.

But it just never matters when it's Israeli lives.

9. Most folks shouldn't be blamed for what is happening now.
For God's sake, most DUers were more worried about Bush and their sons and daughters serving right now in Iraq.

10. That's no excuse
If you didn't know what was happening to Israel for the last 3 years, well okay fine. But once you do know and you continue to vilainize Israel anyway, what the hell is the excuse for that?

11. I never excused that.
Edited on Mon Jul-24-06 02:10 PM by Selatius
Israel was within its right to attack Hezbollah, but I don't believe that should include destruction of civilian infrastructure like the bombing of the Lebanese Army barracks or the bombing of several power stations. That should be condemned as much as Hezbollah firing Katyusha rockets into northern Israel.

14. That's what this thread is about
Laughing off Israeli dead. It's disgusting, I've alerted, I don't even know why this thread is still here.

15. The thread is here to remind people that Israel is murdering civilians.

No one is "laughing off" the deaths of Israeli civilians.

Far more condemnation is given by the American media to the killing of Israeli civilians by arabs than to the killing of Palestinian and Lebanese civilians by Israel, despite the fact that the latter victims outnumber the former by more than two to one.

As long as people continue to claim that Israel is more victim than agressor, threads like this one will be needed.
