White candidate wants to join Congressional Black Caucus
Tim Curran, editor at Roll Call just reported on C-Span's WJ that candidate Cohen (I lost the first name - sorry) who is running to fill the office of Rep. Harold Ford, has notified the CBC that he wants to join if he is elected.

This, of course, would be precedent setting.

1. I think it's a fantastic idea.
I think he should be a part of it, perhaps as a non-voting member of the caucus. If we're really talking fighting for equality, everyone should be a part of the discussion.

2. An ex officio member. Great idea! I'd be proud to stand with them myself.
CBC has balls and integrity as opposed to some other "representatives."

3. are you sure it would be precedent setting?
I could swear there was one in the 1980's a white guy who represented a majority black district.

I was just repeating what Curran said.

5. The guy I am thinking of was from NJ I think
and he had been in Congress for eons before the Black Caucus was founded. He eventually was the only caucasian member of Congress representing an overwhelmingly black district.
