I was just discussing this with Symbol man -- we are both military brats. We grew up in integrated communities -- housing and schools. We thought absolutely nothing of going to school with kids from different culture and races. And I grew up in Hawaii -- which is really and truly a melting pot of the races.

I am also so multi racial myself that I am a walking UN -- well for the Northern Hemisphere -- and mostly European but also Native American.

Frankly I feel uncomfortable in a whites only room --

When I returned to the "States" from Hawaii as a teenager -- the white in the high school snubbed me but the blacks included me in their activities and would speak to me. I talked "funny" and looked "different" and wasn't quite white enough. My black girlfriends could cut anyone down to size with just a few words!

There are a whole lot of white folk in this day and age who have managed to live their lives with little or no meaningful contact with people of different races and cultures.

there might be some non-German/Dutch/adopted Scottish among you. I'm Caucasian. I don't hang out with other races because they do everything better than me!!
