Just back from the Dixie Chicks....
in Pittsburgh. What an awesome concert, and a great crowd. The Mellon Arena was about 75% sold out, better than I expected. The only protesters there where the pro-lifers with their hideous signs with the bloody fetuses. Every time we go to ANY event in Pittsburgh, they are there. Many of them seem to have been stuck there by their churches (many seem to be rather slow, trust me, I am not making fun of anyone), without a clue about what is going on around them. Of course Codepink was there, supporting the Dixie Chicks. The Dixie Chicks are so talented, and everyone went crazy when they sang, "Not ready to make nice". Natalie was talking about a song they had written about infertility, and kind of stumbled with her speech. She said, "I feel like the president, I don't know what to say." That brought down the house, but that was her only remark about *. There were signs people were holding up supporting freedom of speech, etc. If you get a chance to see them, it is worth every dime. I so admire those three women, they are so talented and very brave.

4. Great to hear
I have tickets for the Houston concert, but they were pre-sale and the concert may be in jeopardy. I hope not. I saw their last tour and it ranks as one of the best I've ever seen.

The new CD is awesome.

What a sad commentary on our nation that artists (of all people) catch flak for speaking their mind.

5. going to see them with my sister in DC Aug. 4th...
She's the huge Chicks fan, though the new CD really is awesome (it's rather curious addition to my car CD collection: Megadeth, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rammstein... Dixie Chicks? :-) ).

Good to hear the concert was great!

(On a side note: I've always wanted to go up to those annoying "fetus poster" protestors with posters of severed limbs, diseased organs after they've been surgically removed, pictures of open heart surgery, "diabetic foot," etc. Medical ailments and the procedures to treat them are rarely happy, happy, joy, joy.)

6. They brought down the house in Los Angeles.....
Edited on Sun Jul-23-06 01:27 AM by shance
That was a couple of years ago when I saw them. Right after the London concert.

It was sold out and everyone was going wild. It was an amazing time.

No doubt the Neocons are doing everything with all their money and connections to sabatoge and stop the ticket sales and publicity, but they won't stop the truth and the amazing talent they have unless we get lazy and let them.

The Dixie Chicks make Texas women proud.

Heck, they make Americans proud period.
