All Out to Confront the Nazis in Southeast Wisconsin

In recent months white supremacists have tried their hardest to gain a foothold in southeast Wisconsin. Congressman James Sensenbrenner spreads his xenophobic hate from a district just outside of Milwaukee. Recently a group started as White Revolution (now the Nationalist Coalition) has begun active recruiting; Neo-Nazi skinhead gangs have come out of hiding, and a memorial dedicated to Hitler has been built. Now, the National Socialist Movement (of Toledo riot fame) has decided that they will come and stir up even more tensions.

Wisconsin anti-racists will not allow them to achieve their goals and we call all anti-racists to come here and help us show this scum that they are not welcome anywhere.

On the evening of Friday, August 25th these Nazis and their allies will have a meeting at the heavily contested memorial to Adolf Hitler near Elkhorn WI. This hall was founded by a former Waffen SS member who claims that the Nazis never killed anyone person in the holocaust, that Germany did not start World War 2, and the Hitler was an amazing dancer.

At this meeting the NSM will discuss strategy, tactics and hate speech for the next day. This is the first meeting ever to be held at this cess-pool of ignorance, and if not effectively countered could start a trend of racist pilgrimages to the site.

On the next day, Saturday, August 26th,at 2pm the NSM will hold an anti-immigration rally on the steps of the state capital in Madison. Their rhetoric will embolden the racists that attend. Emboldened fascists are dangerous fascists and unless we confront them they will not stop at only words.

This threat to our communities cannot be ignored as some groups have proposed. We cannot sit idly by with our heads in the sand while the extreme right organizes. It is our duty as anti-racists to never allow Nazis to gain a foothold anywhere. We can fight them now, or we can lose to them later.

The reason they ended up in Idaho and Montana was because the southern states that they originated from as an offshoot of the KKK didn't want them there. Years ago, I was acquainted with a neo-Nazi without understanding what that was. (I was young, ignorant, and much too tolerant of the oddball friends my then-partner would bring home from time to time.)

Siegfried's (yes, I swear to God, that was his first name*) logic went like this:

1. The Nazis did not exterminate 6 million Jews.

2. And if they did, the German people knew nothing about it.

3. And if the German people did know about it, then they must have had a very good reason for allowing it to happen.

4. But that's all moot, because the Nazis did not exterminate 6 million Jews.

Yeah, we argued. A lot. But I was so young and stupid at the time, I didn't even recognize the Holocaust-denial literature he sometimes carried with him as neo-Nazi propaganda.

You can't seriously call yourself a Democrat, or an American, and advocate beating into silence people you disagree with.

if you look at what happens when neo-nazis are able to organize, it is not good. When they are able to organize and gain power and members, they WILL attack people just for being who they are (black, gay, Jewish, Latino and so on). When they go unopposed, they WILL use it to spread their filth.

This is not about disagreement, this is about people with absolutely unacceptable intentions, intentions which turn to unacceptable actions, actions which turn to unacceptable consequences. When someone says that they want to kill everyone who has a birth defect if they get in power, you cannot let that go by.

To clarify, "beaten" doesn't necessarily mean violence, you can "beat" someone off the streets without physical violence (confrontation and intimidation, for instance).
