China builds a scale model of the disputed India-China border region
http://www.newscientist.com/blog/technology/

...Perhaps that's how the Indian government feels now that an eagle-eyed member of the Google Earth community has spotted what appears to be a scale model of a disputed part the Sino-Indian border next to a military facility in the heart of the Chinese mainland. Now what would the Chinese military want with that?

A comparison of the model with the original landscape can be seen below: (original is below the model)

Very, very weird. Thank you so much varun for bringing this information to us- there is no way I would have come across this if it were not for your service.

THANK YOU!

3. In a world with dwindling access to readily accessible energy resources
A conflict between the two most populous nations isn't out of the question. Especially if they're neighbors. In a purely Machiavellian sense, you couldn't expect China to do anything else but make preparations for war. (Especially given the conlict between them in the 20th century.)

The question becomes how to we avoid outright conflict. Preparations for war alone do not guarantee fighting.

4. India and China were at war..
...in 1962. India still considers China to be its rival (both economically and militarily) in the region.

5. China should be the "better country" and make concession on this.
And I am more sympathetic to China than to India, in general. The Indian expansionists won't give in on their claims. China should make effort to permanently resolve this, even if it means giving a "little too much" from a national pride standpoint.

It is imperative that China and India form two poles in a new international front to stand against hegemony by you-know-who.

6. There's a lot of bad blood between China and India
If anybody were to gang up against the US, it would likely be China and Russia, not India.

7. Indian "expansionist"?
Tibet has been gobbled up by China (the size of Texas and California), and you call the Indians "Expansionists"?

8. Yes, India gobbled up Sikkim, for starters.
Why does no one complain about the annexation of Sikkim?

India has interfered in Pakistani affairs, most famously by supporting the secession of East Pakistan (Purba Bangla). It also sees itself as master of the region, sending troops to Sri Lanka, for example. These things are not true of China.
