Air America Radio Premium ?!
I just got an email from AAR announcing their premium service. If you want to hear the archives, you gotta pay for it. Rates are posted at https://secure.airamericaradio.com/premium/subscribe.php

What will this mean for White Rose Society and Air America Place archives? Do they have to stop providing the archive via voluntary donations or for free?

1. Not only White Rose, but what about those
who subscribe via iTunes? I sub to several AAR shows including Rachel Maddow, Majority Report, Mike Malloy, Randi Rhodes and others. I regularly listen to Rachel Maddow and Majority Report (except I HATE their "Best Of" shows).

Will we still get 'em through iTunes?

Guess people will torrent them but I don't wanna have to wait for a couple of days to see something appear on bit torrent.

2. It would be worth it to me if they do what Stephanie Miller does with
her subscription. I currently subscribe to her podcasts and iTunes is playing yesterday's show as I type this. They have no commercials and it gets posted the same day as the show.

If AAR does this, then I'd subscribe. You'd get a lot of shows without commercials in a more timely fashion.

3. The AAR shows on iTunes are without commercials.

Rachel Maddow's show is only 1 hour 15 minutes long.

I wonder if the AAR premium shows are sans commercials.

5. Hmmm. If they are currently without commercials, then I don't know
what Premium would mean. Guess we have to wait and see.

6. i don't mind paying for archives
my concern is what's going to happen to White Rose and Air America Place. They took the initiative to set up archives. I'm concerned AAR will not let them archive anymore.

I subscribe to Thom Hartmann archives at White Rose and occasionally add an extra donation during fund drives.

8. It sounds like you are correct. I checked my email and there was an AAR
note talking about Premium. I could not see any difference between it and the free offerings of White Rose and Air America Place. If they are going to charge $69 for an all access to the archives, then they would have to shut down those offering it for free.

4. I'll just rip the audio with Audio Hijack.
Because I'll be damn to pay for something that is free on the radio.

9. He is suppose to be working with them on it. I'd like to see a greater
role for Thom Hartman. If Al runs for the senate and wins -- he should -- I'd like for Thom's show to replace Al's.
