Doesn't it make sense that Bush would use his first veto...
Edited on Wed Jul-19-06 01:19 PM by WI_DEM
to kill a bill which would help scientists find cures for diseases and prolong life? When you think about it the man only cares about death and destruction not life and bettering it. The veto is wrong morally and scientifically, imo, but it's perfectly in character for the chimp.

2. Why isn't this in LBN?
There is already a link:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13934199/

"WASHINGTON - President Bush says he's vetoed a bill that would have allowed expanded federal funding for embryonic stem-cell research -- because it "crosses a moral boundary that our decent society needs to respect."

The measure, approved by boht the House and Senate, allowed federal funding for embryonic stem-cell research.

Bush signed without any ceremony or photographers to record the historic moment. "He doesn't feel it's appropriate," White House spokesman Tony Snow said.

But the president spokeabout the issue later in the White House East Room, surrounded by 18 families who "adopted" frozen embryos that were not used by other couples, and then used those leftover embryos to have children. "The message there is that an embryo can create a human being," Snow said."

6. Reading you post again......Rove's
pawprints are all over this. The MSM WAS reporting that * would veto the bill in a Rose Garden ceremony.........I wonder what or who changed his little mind? (Maybe security had a problem with making and keeping him safe in an outdoor setting.)

5. Bush hurts future US economy
What a shock. 20 years from now when other countries are far ahead of the US in stem cell research and generating thousands of new biotech jobs, he'll have perserved the life of embryo's to set around on the shelf until being disposed of. My guess is this veto will look even more stupid then.
