The push for war...
...is a sign of mental and moral weakness.
A character flaw of the highest order.

1. Not always
FDR? Greatest Democrat president in the nation's history actively pushed for the US to enter WWII. That was most certainly the right thing to do. If you're squaring off against actual Hitler, then war is just. (I don't think Godwin's Law applies in a discussion of actual Hitler, right?)

3. I think we were "pushed into" war...
...by outside forces, in WWII.
And there is still a debate about that.

I am talking about creating war for war's sake...like Iraq.

5. I don't think that the Iraq war qualifies as a war for war's sake
1. it is a war for influence in the Middle East

2. it is a war for access to the oil fields

3. it is a war to try to temper the militancy of Islam

4. it is a war of revenge against SH for Gulf War I

5. it is a war of the son attempting to out-perform the father

6. it is a Christian crusade

7. *snickering* it is a war to give Iraqis their freedom

8. *laughing out loud* it is a war to prevent a country from obtaining WMDs

It is anything *but* a purposeless war held for its own sake. There are a myriad of reasons behind it. Granted, all of them are idiotic reasons, but there are a myriad of reasons all the same. To consider the present administration "evil" in a non-joking way, or to imply that their actions are purposeless or irrational, I think is making a serious error. You cannot underestimate the Repukes. They are counting on us to do that, and we have to be cagey. I believe that Gulf War II is a combination of 1 and 2, with a healthy dose of 3 thrown in for good measure.

4. War is the results of a failed policy, most of the time
in Iraq's case it was intentional and sought after making it criminal at best.
