Is it really Iran that is pushing for war?
As Israeli firepower rained down on Lebanon last week, pundits here in the West wasted no time pinning the blame on — Iran.

Iran and its radical allies are pushing toward war," wrote Washington Post columnist David Ignatius.

<snip>

Is it really Iran that is pushing for war? Think about it. Why would Iran want to provoke a war with Israel and the U.S. — both heavily armed nuclear powers — when it has no nuclear weapons itself?

The U.S. and Israel, on the other hand, are very keen to attack Iran. In a recent series of articles in New Yorker magazine, Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist Seymour Hersh has detailed Washington's plans to attack Iran. Israel has called Iran a "major threat" that "must be stopped" from developing nuclear weapons.

1. Doesn't make sense for a country to want to commit
suicide does it? Unless they've been given the go ahead from China and Russia to start the big end game with the US.

2. They're setting us up a little at a time...
In another week, 89% of the American people in a Gallup poll will support attacking Iran. Just wait....

4. Just like pre-2002 midterm elections
I was waiting to see what w would do to start whipping up the American public back then. One day he mentioned Iraq. From that day on there was the slow but steady drum beat that grew more menacing - Iraq - Iraq. Now it's Iran.

The public has been moving away from the administration's policies. I figure that the U.S. and Israeli governments have conspired for some mutual benefit. At least that's how I see it.

14. I think you may be proven correct eleny...
But first, we have to go to the UN to legitimize our actions.

3. The only country that wants war is the U.S. and,
obviously, Israel. Both the U.S. and Israel have committed the greatest number of atrocities. And they will commit many many more.

5. Bush wants a war with Iran
That way he can break out the visa again and finish his job of bankrupting this country once and for all.

6. Israel wants war so the US wants what Israel wants
The only people in this whole mess that want war is the state of Israel, George W. bu$h and his bitch, kindasleazy rice.

When the rest of the world is calling for calmer heads in this situation and you are still spouting for the lone wolf, maybe it is time to reconsider your stand.

The bu$h regime is wrong in it's support of Israel and the people of the United States must do something to stop him from taking us into a much larger war.

16. Baloney
And this meme that Israel is controlling the US is classic Zionist conspiracy shit. It has a long and not illustrious history. No, I'm not accusing you of anti-semitism, I am informing you that you're using an anti-semitic argument. Go to any anti-semitic hate site and this is the type of statement you'll find.

There's plenty of room for criticism of Israel without this type of garbage.

17. Then why, time after time, the US defends the bull shit Israel does?
Not just the bu$h regime but all administrations have done so. The bu$h regime is just more deeply in bed with them than any other admin before.

Why wont they condemn the actions with the rest of the world?

7. No, I've talked to many Iranians.. they don't understand the
need for an attack. They want to live their lives, go to school, have jobs... No one wants war... The only question they ask is why they can't have nuclear power when other countries can have cheap electricity. I only say back that it is better to look for alternative fuel sources than go down the dark lane of nuclear power. The other thing they ask is why Bush hates them so much? It is sad that I see pictures of their lives and customs and know that at some point, when war wages, they may lose their lives. I'm sorry, but when you put a face and mind and a smile to a person, it changes a mass into an individual who is just trying to be.

10. This is part of a post
from the Cooperative Research timeline dated July 8 1996.

The Institute for Advanced Strategic and Political Studies, an Israeli think tank, publishes a paper titled “A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm.” The paper, whose lead author is Richard Perle, advises the new, right-wing Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu to break with the policies of the previous government by adopting a strategy “based on an entirely new intellectual foundation, one that restores strategic initiative and provides the nation the room to engage every possible energy on rebuilding Zionism ....” Much along the lines of an earlier paper by Israeli Oded Yinon (see February 1982), the document urges the Israelis to aggressively seek the downfall of their Arab neighbors—especially Syria and Iraq—by exploiting the inherent tensions within and among the Arab States.

The link is: http://cooperativeresearch.org/timeline.jsp?timeline=western_support_for_islamic_militancy&islamic_militancy_general_topic_areas=islamic_militancy_otherAlQaeda

The neocons have been planning for this for a long time. Just part of the PNAC agenda.

in this to distract attention from their own nuclear program during the G8 summit.

Of course, the extemists in Iran want to see conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. It makes their own cause easier to sell to the masses.

19. :"The first casualty, when war comes, is the truth." Hiram Johnson
Which is most certainly the case in the wars in the Middle-East and well proven by all sides.

The other casualties, as usual, are mostly civilians who generally would rather be left alone to lead their lives.

20. its all about the oil, I think, and the creation of another
islamic state- lebanon

the price of oil is going to go up because of this, causing recession problems
here in the US, Iran could make millions of extra $$ as oil goes up - then they
would give it to hezbollah in Lebanon to rebuild .
