Chavez Calls Out Bush and Israel
It's miles beyond fascinating when we as Americans have to rely on Hugo Chavez as the voice of reason in the western hemisphere, but no doubt that his is the most sensible voice coming out of both continents today. Hell, he already supplies our poor with gas to heat homes in the winter. Vive Chavez! America's last best hope!

Chavez excerpts on Lebanon:

"The fundamental blame falls again on the U.S. empire. It's the empire that armed and supported the abuses of the Israeli elite, which has invaded, abused and defied the United Nations for a long time."

"I'll seize this opportunity to condemn categorically and fully the aggression that the Israeli elite is carrying out against innocents over there in the Middle East."

"Are we going to bomb cities and tell them that we won't stop bombing until they return the soldier? That's crazy."

"Worse, it's craziness with nuclear bombs. (The Israelis) have their weapons of mass destruction and nobody criticizes them, nobody says anything because the empire is behind them."

"The U.S. empire's desire to dominate has no limits and that could take this world to a real Holocaust. May God save us."

12. Those are the remarks of an intelligent , brave and possibly
caring person. Thank you sir. We need more of that. (Gore, Clark, Conyers and Feingold are intelligent, brave and caring people, just to name of few of the many qualified Americans.)

13. Chavez vs. Hillary on Israel's state terror
Thanks for the thread, Mir.

It's instructive to contrast Chavez's critical insights with the rictus of obedience found on Hillary Clinton. For Chavez, the question is harm to innocents. But for Hillary, massacring civilians and obliterating society is "send(ing) a message," and she's nonplussed about using human flesh as the pages on which to write this atrocity.

Here's the robotic senator today, trotting out the familiar line:

Hillary Clinton says Israel has right to defend itself

July 15, 2006, 11:21 PM

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - New York Senator Hillary Clinton says Israel's incursion into Lebanon is an exercise of the right that every sovereign nation has to defend itself against attacks.

Clinton was at Fayetteville this afternoon on a rare visit to her former Arkansas stomping grounds. She said Israel had the right to take stern and strong action against Hezbollah attacks originating in Lebanon.

Asked if her support extended to Israel's bombing of the Beiruit international airport, she said, "I fully support Israel's right to defend itself."

Clinton was speaking in front of the Clinton House Museum, the small brick house where she and Bill Clinton were married in 1975.

She said Israel has the right to send a message to Hezbollah and Hamas militants and their supporters in Syria and Iran that it would not tolerate attacks against its territory and troops.

pretty much justifying the destruction of civilian infrastructure and the blockading of a nation's seaports. Hezbollah should not have done what it did, and the consequences it will suffer for that action are Hezbollah's the bear alone. For God's sake, don't take it out on the Lebanese civilians. Several dozen are dead now.
