Timeline to World War Three. Bush's failure to protect the United States.

September 12th 2001-Opportunities Thrown Away.
We need to realize something about “9-11.” The attack did not need to happen in New York. They could have happened on Monday Night Football, or at oil refineries in Houston and they would have been a far greater nightmare then they were. The point of the WTC attacks were not “body count.” The terrorists intentionally chose the only place in the world most representing the United States’ military might, our decadent Western greed and consumerism, and our secularism and over the top capitalism. The purpose was, to gather universal support in the Muslim world, rather than to continue on with the constant regional arguments regarding Kasmir, the Kurds or the West Bank. It was a direct attack, on what a billion Moslems believe drives the economic disparity causing their poverty and misery.

There is a gigantic swath of humanity, extending from the Balkans, Persia, through the Middle East and all down Africa. No matter the religion, race or nationality, the residents of that particular geographic area share the common ground of poverty, misery, and present debt load, that they perceive as forced upon them by past colonialism; both by the U.S. and Great Britain.

Post 9-11, the outpouring of worldwide support and sympathy for the people of the United States was unprecedented. For months afterward, we will actually learn as a people, to put our political and personal differences aside, and get on the same page. Something of this magnitude only ever comes about on those occasions when an event catastrophic enough to remove our personal boundaries happens. The United States will enjoy the entire backing of the world, as we gather up a military force to rip out the heart of terrorism that was based in Afghanistan.

Democrats and Republicans alike both backed the mission to the Afghani region. After all, this was an opportunity to really make a difference in the world. The possibilities were endless. Establish a base of operations in Kabul, and flush out the Taliban warlords and terrorist organizations that had so plagued the world. From there, we were going to get to the heart of the problem of worldwide terrorism, by addressing its causes. We were going to look at the brutal Sheikdoms, that plague the region and keep the majority of their people in abject poverty and hopelessness; the prime conditions of “nothing to lose” that extreme fundamentalist religious organizations like the Taliban prey on, and exploit for recruitment.

Then, of course, it started. The beginning of the Neo-Con squandering a golden opportunity. Anorexic Ann Coulter writes an editorial saying that all Moslems in the world must be converted to Christianity and their leaders killed. Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson use the tragedy to increase bigotry and hatred of gays, feminists and liberals. Conservative reactionaries use the disaster to tear down the wall of separation of church and state, while gleefully giving the rest of us the finger. John Ashcroft eliminates Habeas Corpus, due process, and the right to a lawyer, by introducing secret tribunals and the acceleration of our execution process. It also makes an incompetent President, who had a report on his desk warning about terrorists flying planes into American landmarks, a month before it happened, the most popular President in history for some unmemorable babbling from a bull horn in the rubble.

December 22nd 2001-Planned Destabilization Of The Region.
Anyone who does not depend on Fox News for their information knows that the plan all along was to invade Iraq. First however, the Bush Administration needed a new oil pipeline across Afghanistan. It was actually relatively easy and swift to accomplish. On December 22nd 2001, Hamid Karzai-a former Unocal Corporation consultant, gets installed by the Bush Administration as the head of the US-backed interim government in Afghanistan. On Dec. 31st, Zalmay Khalilzad, gets the nod as Special Envoy to Afghanistan. Zhalilzad, like Karzai had earlier functioned as a Unocal consultant, participating in 1997 talks between Unocal and Taliban officials.

The diversion of U.S. troop strength out of the Afghani region had devastating consequences. As early as 2002, the Taliban warlords had already started to reconsolidate power. Presently The Taliban movement has evolved beyond its guerrilla struggle of the past, and are enjoying a resurgent, second coming, given strength through the martyring of their leaders, and the failure to capture Osama Bin Laden, or Mullah Omar.

May 1, 2003-War Profiteering At The Expense Of The Iraqi People.
Since 2003, Bechtel, Halliburton, GE, SAIC, Northrop Grumman; just to name a few, are raking in record profits. Since 2005, global military spending has shot to a record high. The United States accounts for nearly half of that total. Along with the huge profits, comes the command of local Iraqi oil, the raiding of the Iraqi treasury, the looting our own treasury for “rebuilding” Iraq, the construction of permanent military bases, and the building of a palatial embassy larger then Vatican City to run all of it from.

The plan for Iraq to pay for their own reconstruction using their oil money, was also disabled by the Bush Administration. The United Nations Security Council, under intense pressure from the United States unanimously approved Resolution 1483, on May 22, 2003. The resolution was to set up a “Development Fund for Iraq,” financed mainly Iraqi oil exports. The fund was controlled by the United States, with advice from the Washington-dominated World Bank and International Monetary Fund, controlled by Paul Bremer.

Then, in the middle of the night, Bush quietly signed Executive Order 13303, providing absolute legal protection for United States interests in Iraqi oil. Bush prohibited all judicial processes regarding Iraqi oil that was in the possession of United States corporations. It also decreed that “any attachment, judgment, decree, lien, execution, garnishment or other judicial process is prohibited, and shall be deemed null and void,” with respect to the Development Fund for Iraq and “all Iraqi petroleum and petroleum products and interests therein.”

Present Day-Civil War and Secular Violence in Iraq, North Korea and Israel Taking Advantage.
Almost immediately after Zarqawi’s death terrorist attacks were ratcheted up a notch. The problem started when, instead of capturing Zarqawi, putting him on trial, and using him an example to the world of what happens if you support the Taliban, the United States; for political gain and propaganda purposes, decided to martyr him instead. Since then, secular violence has increased, and Iraq’s Shiite base which is supported and financed by Iran, has started to take control of the region. Result; we are currently in an un-winnable quagmire in Iraq.

Presently, the United States has been attempting to saber rattle in the Direction of Iran, but it is getting complicated now. Besides the fact that Iran has economic and military backing from China and Russia, we are bogged down in Iraq to the point that Israel and North Korea are taking advantage of the situation. This same type of situation was also the economic beginning of the end for the Soviet Union.

Rush Limbaugh, Bill Oreilly, and Shawn Hannity can blame Bill Clinton all they want for the present state of affairs, but it does not erase the facts. The Bush Administration took it’s eye off of the ball, and used the entire might of the United States Military to reap huge profits in the Middle East, instead of using them as they were meant to be used; to protect the United States from all enemies foreign and domestic. This is a failure that has us at the brink of world war three.

The strategy of lies, deceit, and fear-mongering that has worked until now has ceased to be effective. Israel has thumbed it’s nose at the U.N and at the world by bombing Palestine. The United States showed their support for Israel by vetoing the U.N. anti-Israel resolution. This has ratcheted up the animosity towards the United States in not just the regions we are occupying, but in the entire Muslim world. Throw into the equation North Korea testing missiles, knowing full well there is nothing that we can do about it and we are stuck with the full failure of the Bush Administration to do what they kept promising to do-protect the United States.
