VIDEO- Ahmadinejad on Nuclear Weapons
Edited on Tue Jan-17-06 11:40 AM by liveoaktx
This has been misquoted by CNN-this is what he actually said-on CanOFun

Editing to add this link to an article -Iraq Bans CNN due to their mistranslation of remarks
<snip>
On Saturday, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad defended Iran's right to continue nuclear research. State media have complained since the speech that CNN used the translation "nuclear weapons" instead of "nuclear technology."

The ban by the Culture and Islamic Guidance Ministry was read in a statement on state-run television.

"Due to mistranslation of the words of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad during his press conference, activities of the American CNN in Tehran are banned until further notice," said a statement by the Culture and Islamic Guidance Ministry read on state-run television.
...
(CNN's APOLOGY)
"CNN quoted Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as saying that Iran has the right to build nuclear weapons," the network said in its report of the ban. "In fact he said that Iran has the right to nuclear energy. He added that, quote, a nation that has civilization does not need nuclear weapons and our nation does not need them. CNN has clarified what the Iranian president said and apologized here on the air to the Iranians directly, as well as on the air."

1. He's not my favorite leader
In fact, for claiming that the Holocaust didn't happen, he is permanently on my sh** list, however, I agree with him, and I have said this before, that the US and Iran and all other countries should call for the complete destruction of all nuclear weapons! That would take courage, not planning an attack on Iran.

3. Sorta like, Saddam Hussein?
Taking someone you disagree with, and turning him into an enemy.

4. Yep.
Pick an unpopular leader (To the West anyway) and pick a fight. It's easier and all part of the PNAC plan. It disgusts me.

2. OMG. He must be a madman.
He's calling for the elimination of all WMD, and the smallest item in their budget is defense.

:sarcasm:

Yes, let's nuke Iran, you stupid nutbag right-wingers who can't even follow the logical thought process of a translated speech on this issue because you can't get your head out of the Kool-Aid toilet.

====================

I've only watched him on this one video, so my exposure to him is very limited, but it appears to me he's doing what Saddam refused to do. He appears to be acting rationally and keeping his ego out of the equation.

Thank you, liveoaktx.

5. VIDEO- BBC Question about whether Iran has the right to defend itself
against attack

I believe that humanity has reached the stage where it is the humanity of the people that defines-it isn't the few nuclear powers of the world that have the say... if it were in our hands, we would even ask for eliminating rockets.. why should we be involved in arms race? We don't need nuclear power. We asked the question and all the things went haywire in those countries. I think today in the world logic and reason will prevail and those who go after propaganda are wasting their naitons money.
