State the truth and you get attacked mercilessly
No matter who you are, these days you get smeared and called ugly names if you are bold enough to state the truth, on almost any subject.

If you say evolution is a fact, you get attacked. I you say the government treats us like slaves on a plantation, you get attacked. If you say bush committed multiple, impeachable crimes, you get attacked.

If you state that the war in Iraq is a total failure, you get attacked. If you say torture is bad, you get attacked. If you say spying on citizens is a crime, you get attacked.

If you say that fascism has conquered America, you get attacked. If you say that barbara bush is a big fat bitch, you get attacked. If you say that george bush is an awol deserter, you get attacked.

If you say bush stole elections, you get attacked. If you say that bush is stupid, you get attacked.

Just take any situation from today's news, state the truth about it, and get mercilessly attacked, every time.

1. It seems to be the way we are anymore.
If you don't agree then attack. Or use character assassination.

Kind of an interesting development, isn't it?

4. Have you noticed how repukes don't argue the issue?
Instead they smear the person who brings up the issue. That way the corporate media can spin all over the person without even discussing the facts. We have very little free and open discussions of political issues in a public forum, except for the internet. But even on the internet, if you have ever been on some of those sites, the repukes wont argue the facts but they will insult you and call you names.

5. You are so right, I've said all of these and then some to only be attacked
but you know what, I like a good spirited discussion and I walk away the winner most times. It's so easy because all you have to do is tell the truth, they can't handle it.

6. Attack is what you do
when you cannot honestly and intelligently enter into the arena of ideas. Instead you tune into limbaugh and faux news to await your latest talking points.

And another to add to your list. If you say alito is conservative you get attacked. That's what happened to Scripps-Howard when they ran a profile of the man stating that he is a conservative whose judgements can be described as conservative. The article was trashed by conservatives. Incredibly ignorant machines.

7. Being liberal is an uphill climb.
Italways has been. I think alot of the people I knew in college turned into Republicans because it was easier than being a liberal. Think of all the great liberators--Lincoln, MLK, JFK, RFK... It was all uphill for them and none of them got to see the final results of their life's work. The first person who stands up in the street and gets shot....that's a great liberator, too. Being a liberal isn't for sissies.

9. I think it's like in a family where there is active alcoholism, or some
other serious dysfunction, there's a "no talk" rule. When you tell the truth, you're breaking the "no talk" rule.

12. Oh toughen up.
and get your facts straight. Hillary didn't say the government treats us like slaves. Evolution is, as I'm sure you know, both a fact and a theory- and the theory is both more important and more interesting than the fact. (l like your great spaghetti creator, btw). Vigorous discussion is a good thing, not a bad thing. We all see things through the prism of our experience and differing kinds of intelligence. Truth is not (at least not usually) an absolute. That road leads to fundamentalism. Express your ideas and opinions, be prepared to argue them, and maintain a sense of humor.

13. Since when is the truth a popular thing
Edited on Tue Jan-17-06 10:16 AM by annces8
that is why martyrs and rebels are usually the heroes.

I remember trying to debate my high school history teacher about the real facts of the Vietnam war and just getting smirked at. Authority figures have never really inspired me unfortunately.

14. It's not just in politics. This seems to be a whole mindset these
days. Look what Bode Miller got for a chance remark: http://abcnews.go.com/US/Sports/story?id=1498364

I'm not defending Miller's actions, but it seems that any public figure or celebrity can be attacked for anything said in public. There's bound to be someone who disagrees with what was said and demands apologies.

15. The bright side is: Now you can say anything you damn well please!
And, no, they won't roll out a red carpet for the likes of us. Never have. The right - in all countries I know, not only in the US - has forever tried to get their hands on the free press, has smeared individual people, has broken rules (the sheeple go along with this, they just don't let leftists do it)...

That's the way it is. Nobody promised us life would be fair :)

16. The truth about BushCo has been fatal to careers, and fatal, period.
The list of those investigative journalists who've ended up slitting their own throats in motel rooms is rather too long to be mere coincidence. Add that to those who have merely been fired and blacklisted by the MSM, and we have a good illustration of why most reporters don't even bother to try to exercise their brains or state the obvious these days about this Administration.

And, then, there are the majority of the editors and working press who were hired because they really like the guy and are natural elitist bastards. . .

The Bushes are killers. Plain and simple. Most of the mass media lies, and exists for no other purpose than to sell ad space and to indoctrinate or propagandize the public.
