Opinion - Bu$h wanted to be the new Reagan...
...but PNAC (under Cheney) has turned him into the new Nixon.

2. That's the image they were trying to invoke.........
with the hastily cobbled together pig-farm, the tough, no-nonsense "John Wayne" bluster and all the rest.

Reagan, although not a good actor by any stretch of the imagination, at least had a basic knowledge of acting and mood control. bush is a fake cowboy, is scared of horses, his swaggering tough-guy act is ludicrous and can't put a coherent sentence together even when prompted. :eyes:

It's pretty bad when you can't match wits with a aged Alzheimer's sufferer, but bush has somehow managed to pull it off. I hated freaking Raygun, but bush? He's off the stinking charts!

6. I have no fondness for what Reagan did to America...
...but it does pale in comparison to the genuinely fascist nature of this admin.

Remember the words of Frederic Douglas, "Agitate, agitate, agitate." The powers that be cannot be allowed to be comfortable.

3. wanted... (RR) AND to "avoid the flaws" of his dad's presidency
and he has outdone the problems of his dad's presidency (bigger deficits; bigger national emergency failures; bigger military quagmires; even more corruption... and so on...)

4. To be honest, Chuckle-nuts reminds me a lot of Reagan. Run up the
debt, start illegal wars, destroy working families, etc etc..

5. Life has turned him into a new Hitler.
With a little help from his anti-American enablers, who history will no doubt remember, as the ones who plotted to destroy our country, in the name of greed.

9. I don't think so
I think Bush wants to be a new, RW version of FDR. Sort of an anti-FDR. Pack the courts. Reverse all FDR-era legislation. Use 9/11 as a Pearl Harbor to drastically change our foreign policy. Lots of parallels.
