3. According to the local NBC affiliate, 7 people have been
taken to area hospitals for smoke inhalation. I don't think this is a "derailment", sounds more like an electrical problem with one the cars.

Part of Chicago Transit System Shut Down

July 11, 2006, 7:10 PM EDT


CHICAGO -- A section of the city's transit system was shut down and commuters were evacuated during Tuesday's afternoon rush hour after authorities received reports of smoke in a subway line.

Service was affected between downtown and the city's Wicker Park neighborhood on a line that connects the downtown to O'Hare International Airport, said Chicago Transit Authority spokeswoman Ibis Antongiorgi.
