A thought: What if we declared Bush's perpetual war null and void?
Edited on Tue Jan-17-06 12:26 AM by stevietheman
What if we say the "War on Terror" is over? What if we say it never existed at all.

Wouldn't we be honest and patriotic in saying those things? Don't we know in our hearts that what we needed to do all along was run a global dragnet against international criminals, while leaving our own liberties 100% intact. Of course we know that.

We need to come together and tell Bush, his jig is up. BUSH: WE DON'T RECOGNIZE _YOUR_ WAR.

1. Too late.
We've already caused a series of events that will lead to incredible loss and sorrow for this country. Iraq will always be a problem.

4. Actually I've been wondering something similar --
If part of Bush's justification for his transgressions is that the resolution authorizing him to go to war implicitly authorized a whole lot of other stuff -- I've just been curious, couldn't Congress take that argument away by passing another resolution saying, no, we didn't mean to authorize all that other stuff, we just authorize these certain narrowly-defined things?

I realize Congress isn't about to do this -- at least not before the 2006 elections -- but just curious about the legalities.

7. This kind of reminds me of the War on Drugs...
Congress sure does love to pile on new drug laws... but they never seem to find the courage to roll back laws that don't work (and a lot of them don't work).

6. It at the very least unsettles his followers... and the crazier...
we make them, the better off we are. It's called "shaking the nuts from the tree."
