Bobby Kennedy on Charlie Rose [video]
The following link is to a torrent file for the RFK Jr. segment on Charlie Rose the other day.

cr-rfkjr.avi.torrent
Right click and select "Save as..."

You'll need a BitTorrent client to get this file. If you do not know how to use BitTorrent, you'll have to go BitTorrent at WikiPedia and find out.

Please, if you snag this file, please leave your BitTorrent client up for a little while so that you can share back with other people wanting to download. A general rule of thumb is to share at least as much as the download.

The video file is 35 MBytes, which should be downloadable on even slow connections. Not sparkling quality, but I wanted to make this available to all.

1. What was wrong with his voice?
Or does he always talk like that?

I only caught the very powerful tail end, when he crammed Rose's snide question about Wall St. porn down his slick throat. I wish I'd seen the whole thing, but I will have to wait till I get a new computer to watch it from your link.

2. He always talks like that. I don't know why. Maybe it's genetic
or just the way he speaks. I miss hearing his radio show. Our Air Atlanta station is no more.

3. He sounds like Katherine Hepburn late in life
which makes me hope he doesn't have Parkinson's.

5. BitTorrent is *not* a streaming system.
Edited on Fri Jul-07-06 04:50 PM by longship
BitTorrent downloads the file to your hard drive and you can watch it anytime you want. It's really quite easy.

This is how it works:

  1. Download the torrent file and save it in a folder.
  2. Start the BitTorrent client program.
  3. Tell the BitTorrent client program to load the torrent file you saved in the first step.
  4. Let the BitTorrent client program run until the file is downloaded. (Actually, you should let it run a little longer so that you share some bandwidth back, although that's not manditory.)
  5. When the BitTorrent client program shows that the download is complete, the video file should be on your hard drive for you to view any time you want.

6. My computer can't handle any video or audio for longer than a minute.
It shuts everything down. It's a mess, believe me.

But enough about my computer... How 'bout that Bobby Kennedy Jr., eh?

8. Condition with his vocal cords -
Edited on Fri Jul-07-06 04:58 PM by sparosnare
I can't remember the medical term for it. The reason he speaks that way is physiological. I admire him for overcoming what could have kept him out of public life all together. :hi:

9. Spasmodic dysphonia
as longship pointed out.

I'm glad to hear it's not a neurological condition. Once I got used to the idea that he was not going to suddenly clear his throat and sound any different, I found what he had to say totally compelling and very powerful.

:hi:

11. I am always impressed by RFK,jr and he handled Rose by being
astute, quick-witted, articulate and a gentleman while Rose was playing the asshole role too often. I heard Bobby several years ago and his voice sounded much clearer and strong, because of this I was somewhat startled by his seeming to strain at times but he still presented a very cogent and enlightening message without distraction.
