Looking for percentage registered Democrats by state...please help.
I'm looking for information on the percentage of registered Democrats/Republicans/independents by state.

I'd also like information on the percentage of eligible voters registered to vote by state. Any helpful links would be appreciated.

2. In some states you don't register as a party member just a voter
In South Carolina there are no "registered" republicans or democrats and if any one tells you that there are they don't know South Carolina.

5. id you read the REASONS for NOT voting????
REASONS FOR NOT VOTING
Of the 142 million people who
reported that they were registered
to vote, 16 million (12 percent) did
not vote in the 2004 presidential
election (Table F). Of these registered
nonvoters, 20 percent
reported that they did not vote
because they were too busy or had
conflicting work or school schedules.
Another 15 percent reported
that they did not vote because
they were ill, disabled, or had a
family emergency; 11 percent did
not vote because they were not
interested or felt their vote would
not make a difference; and 10 percent
did not like the candidates or
the issues.21 Some other specified
reasons for not voting included out
of town (9 percent), confusion or
uncertainty about registration
(7 percent), forgetting to vote
(3 percent), and transportation
problems (2 percent).22
Thirty-two percent of Asia

7. it's the "let somebody else do it" syndrome.
Psychologists know that the more people who are supposed to do something, the less each person takes responsibility to do anything themselves.

It's got to get really, really important to some people. Maybe $3.50/gallon gas will wake some of them up.

9. I sure HOPE SO! That's why the Pubs always use wedge issues!
It gets their voters riled up enough to get out their damn door and go to the polls!!!!!

I would be more than willing to use wedge issues on the Dem side too, but I just can't think of any that would motivate the Dem voters enough!

There's gay marriage, but there just arent enough of 'em.

There's abortion rights, but apparently not enough women think it will make a difference to THEM!

I've said it MANY TIMES, until something bad happens to a voter PERSONALLY, they just don't care!

10. I know.
So many of the issues Dems run on aren't universal needs. They are a laundry list of things different groups care about.

The occupation of Iraq is one big one, though. And the economy, if people realize the implications of the national debt.

There is also global warming and dependence on foreign oil. Homeland security. Katrina. Presidential failures to fix domestic problems.

All of these things should worry Dems, and everyone.

11. I'm sure they all do, but the problem is the Dems just don't
get all pi**ed off at those things like the Pubs get with gay marriage or abortion!

If there was still a Draft, the war would be a much stonger issue!

Katrina really only directly affected the people in that area of the Country.

The economy SHOULD make them angry, but unless you lost YOUR JOB, it's still doesn't hit home!

The national debt is something else that most people can't recognize HOW it affects THEM!

The ONLY possible one I can see working is the oil issue! EVERYONE has been affected by the $3.00 gas! The Dems need to have a plan how to fix that, and one that doesn't take 10 years!!!!

Democratic Congressional Lead Among Registered Voters Largest Since '82 Midterm
Lead by 55% to 39% on generic ballot

by Jeffrey M. Jones

The latest CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll finds the Democratic Party leading the Republican Party
55% to 39% among registered voters in the generic congressional ballot.
This is the largest lead Democrats have held over Republicans in the 2006 campaign thus far,
and the largest lead Democrats have enjoyed among registered voters in a midterm election since 1982.

Not Much for Either Party to Celebrate in Congressional Ratings
Independents widely critical of Republican and Democratic leadership

by Lydia Saad

Registered voters currently prefer the Democratic Party to the Republican Party
by a 16-point margin for this year's midterm congressional elections;
however, this is not necessarily a ringing endorsement of the minority party.
Other data from the same June 23-25 USA Today/Gallup survey suggest that Americans
are discouraged with both parties in Congress and may simply be looking for a change.
