Don't eat my flag, Mr. President!
Edited on Thu Jul-06-06 10:16 PM by TexasLawyer

Birthday boy: The president was presented with a cake this July 4th

Many brave men have fought and died to protect our flag, this precious symbol of might, perseverance and justice, from dishonor and disgrace. And yet here we are-- EATING this very symbol??!!?? Indeed, observe our very PRESIDENT ready to chow down!

Should the emblem of this God-fearing land be used for something so frivolous and ephemeral as... a pastry? Has it come to this?

Americans, do we not desecrate the flag cake when we bake it in the oven? Do we not risk burning our flag cake if we are not careful with setting the oven temperature? And consider the Jello "All-American" flag desserts-- do we not subject the flag to inhumanely low temperatures and potentially tragic collisions with the other edible inhabitants of our refrigerators?

Jello "All-American" Dessert

And then there are the CANDLES! Should we risk a conflagration? Should we flirt with the very real possibility of desecrating this emblem of our land with the birthday candles' unholy wax? And then we take up knives and stab our precious flag... repeatedly... tearing it apart... ravaging and cutting away at it until... there is nothing left.

And then, Americans, consider what happens to the cake once it is eaten! I know this is unpleasant, but it must be faced-- Our masticated flag... mixed with caustic, churning gastric juices! Swirling downward.

And then, the ignoble end-product of our national symbol!

Flag Cakes

US Code, Title 4, Chapter 1, Sec. 8 (g): "The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature."

Other "slippery slope" desecration pictures. Where will it end?

4. Flag pin must be too subtle
Plus Buxh had a press release that he would celebrate his birthday on the 4th.
Now he's patriotically celebrating it on the 6th as well.

I haven't had cause to celebrate since 2000 when the flag became a sacred shield to cover up incompetence and corruption.

8. by the way, those flag cakes can be a food poisoning hazard ...
Edited on Thu Jul-06-06 11:23 PM by Lisa
Whipped cream left out too long, and berries that may not have been washed carefully.

(not to mention people drooling or sweating all over it!)

Nothing says "nationalism" like everyone getting a violent stomach upset a bit later on.
